Meet Amanda Erixon

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amanda Erixon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Amanda, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
It’s been a challenge for me to develop my confidence and self-esteem. This industry can really knock you down if you are too naive. I’ve always been an emotional and sensitive person so I’ve learned through experience to cope with that when it comes to my creative career. Over the years I started to compete more with myself than others and I make sure I have other things I love doing in my life besides acting. That have kept me grounded and more grateful for every small win. I’ve also recently been seeing my career more as a marathon than a sprint.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a professionally trained actress currently based in Stockholm, Sweden. I started working as a singer at a hotel in Turkey doing evening shows for guests. After living there for 7 months I went to New York to study more acting at Stella Adler Studio. I liked it so much there that I ended up staying in the U.S. for almost 5 years in total. Since graduating I have been acting in several plays, I’ve had my own theatre company with friends and last year I won a scholarship to be able to produce my first play on my own. I’m now working on new ideas as well as job hunting.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Studying abroad was very important and impactful in my journey because I needed the challenge and perspective s. 2. Getting rid of the perfectionist I used to be both in my personal life and career. You make it so difficult for yourself and you create unnecessary obstacles.
3. Improve my business skills and not only my craft as an artist to be able to expand my network.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m hoping to be able to produce more of my own projects. I would love to collaborate with script writers especially for film. Independent film makers interested in working cross-border. You can message me via instagram at @_amandaerixon or through the contact page on my website https://amandaerixon.com/. Looking forward to be hearing from you and speak further!
