We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Dean. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.
Danielle, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity comes from the women in my life, including my grandmother and mother. My mother is a Registered Nurse and has cared for many people in varying situations. My grandmother, the matriarch of the family, has served as caretaker for her elders and siblings. Both my grandmother and mother are selfless, compassionate, and caring by nature. They instilled these principles in me from an early age, not only through lessons but through watching them in their daily lives.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a Registered Interior Designer in the state of Georgia, and I am a WELL Accredited Professional. Being a Registered Interior Designer allows me to mentor and advocate for rising designers. As a WELL AP, I have a passion for sustainability, health, and wellness. Having both of these certifications is aligned with my career outlook and personal mission. I aim to not only assist in the design community, but to raise awareness as it relates to wellness within spaces. Initially, I wanted to go into the healthcare field, but wanted something more creative and less emotionally taxing. I also enjoy helping people, solving complex problems, and continuing education. Because of this, I pursued both interior design and sustainable/wellness certifications. The most exciting or special thing about my career is being able to give back and breathe life into each design that I create. My business, 146&Cambridge, allows me to do these things.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Following are three qualities that have been impactful on my journey. First, networking is essential, but the follow-up is key. Nurturing and fostering relationships is paramount in this industry. Second, always be kind and do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Finally, be willing to learn and adapt to change.
Advice I would give to those early in their journey would be “act like a sponge, and soak up as much knowledge as you can”.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Five People You Meet in Heaven. My best friend passed away shortly before I started college. This was the most depressing and devastating time of my life. Prior to her passing, I read this book, which follows a plot that develops as the main character’s journey depicts the ebb and flow between life on earth and afterlife in heaven. Reading this book, and being able to reflect on it after my best friend’s passing, helped in my healing journey. Though I still struggle with the events that occurred, I am more at peace.
