Amanda Miller shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Amanda, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think a lot of people are quietly struggling with the fear that they’re behind ….behind in life, behind in success, behind where they thought they’d be by now. On the outside, everyone looks confident, but underneath there’s burnout, comparison, and the pressure to hold it all together without asking for help.
That’s actually why I wrote my book, *Success Isn’t Luck*. I wanted people to understand that feeling stuck doesn’t mean you’re failing it means you’re human. Success isn’t about keeping up appearances; it’s about taking ownership, learning through setbacks, and moving forward anyway.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Amanda Miller, broker-owner of Amanda Miller Realty a multi-million-dollar producing real estate brokerage. I’ve built my career by focusing on sustainable growth, strong leadership, and doing business with integrity especially when things get challenging. Over the years, I’ve grown and led teams, scaled multiple ventures, and learned that real success is built through consistency, resilience, and showing up even when the path isn’t clear.
Beyond real estate, I’m passionate about helping people recognize their own potential. That’s what led me to write my book, *Success Isn’t Luck*. It’s rooted in real experiences ,setbacks, lessons, and wins and the belief that success isn’t about chance, but about mindset, accountability, and taking action even when it feels uncomfortable.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I had to fit into a certain box to be accepted that being too outspoken, too driven, or too ambitious might make me unlikeable. I learned early on to quiet parts of myself to keep the peace or meet expectations.
I no longer believe that. I’ve learned that the very traits I once tried to soften are the ones that built my career, my leadership, and my confidence. I don’t see my ambition or voice as something to manage anymore. I see them as strengths. Growth, for me, has been unlearning the idea that I needed permission to take up space.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I used to believe that failure meant I wasn’t good enough or that I had made the wrong choice. Failing felt personal, like proof that I had misstepped.
After failing hard, I realized failure isn’t the opposite of success it’s part of it. It forces clarity, humility, and growth in a way success never does. Some of my biggest breakthroughs in business and leadership came directly after moments that felt like setbacks at the time. Now I see failure as feedback, not a finish line. It’s often the very thing that redirects you to something better.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in real estate is that success happens fast or overnight. Social media makes it look easy, but what people don’t see are the years of learning, discipline, and consistency it actually takes to build something sustainable.
Another lie is that volume alone equals success. I’ve seen agents chase numbers at the expense of integrity, systems, and long-term relationshipsand that always catches up eventually. Real success in this industry isn’t just about closing deals; it’s about building trust, leading responsibly, and creating a business that still works when the market shifts.
The truth is, longevity matters more than hype. The agents and brokerages that last are the ones focused on fundamentals, accountability, and doing right by people not just looking good in the moment.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I led with integrity, worked hard, and never forgot where I came from. I hope they remember that I built something meaningful not just a successful business, but a place where people felt supported, challenged, and believed in.
More than anything, I hope they say I showed them what was possible. That I didn’t rely on luck or shortcuts, but on consistency, resilience, and doing the right thing even when it wasn’t easy. If my story encourages someone else to bet on themselves, then I’ve done what I was meant to do.
