We recently connected with Lai Goddess and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lai, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose when I started to tuned inward taking the time to learn about myself, as well as paying attention to how I felt when I did the things I enjoyed. I grew up doing a plethora of activities like dancing, writing, acting, drawing etc. I really enjoyed these things but by time I became an adult and started pondering what it is I wanted to be and do, outside from my creative pursuits, is when I came face to face with my purpose. I had to get out of the mentality I’ve been conditioned into, like going to college and getting a 9-5 job. When the pandemic hit I struggled to find a job as no one would hire me. That fall I started my business (Lai’s Body Galore) which came to me after getting closer to myself and my femininity. And I found my femininity through a style of dance called Waist Whining. From there I aligned with my passion for poetry and singing. I don’t believe we have just one purpose in this lifetime and finding your purpose and aligning with your purpose are two separate things. Although I’ve found my purpose, I’m still aligning with the fullness of my purpose and the impact I will make on a larger scale.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an entrepreneur, writer, poet, singer and healer on a journey of evolution and soul fulfillment. I began journaling and writing poems at the age of 10, which has shaped me into who I am today. I started my business (Lai’s Body Galore) in 2020 where I hand-make waistbeads, aromatherapeutic bracelets, and necklaces. My journey as an entrepreneur has been my main priority as of lately, for this will fund all my other creative ideas someday! I’ve been in this energy of wanting to share the things that have helped me heal from trauma and regulate my nervous system, which my jewelry plays a big role in. I create jewelry for healers and those on a healing journey as I incorporate reiki healing into my pieces. I love the energy exchange and the connections made from providing a service so unique and intentional within the jewelry space and spiritual community. My top sellers at the moment are my 4in1 ‘Crown to Heart’, and 4in1 ‘Heart to Root’ microbeads which help with managing weight, aligns your Aritu (Chakra) points, and are adjustable and removable. I strive to soon provide more healing through my gifts of singing/songwriting and poetry- as music is universal and is always felt. Writing, producing beats and singing all help me heal by allowing me the outlet of expressing my truest self. There will come a time where I am ready to share those parts of myself. But in the meantime, my ‘Waist-Whine’ healing course is soon to come via Patreon, where I’ll be teaching step by step hip healing techniques through the art of sensual dance and movement.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’d say getting to know myself is 1. If I didn’t start with understanding who I am and where I come from, then I certainly wouldn’t be living in this timeline of entrepreneurship and providing services within the spiritual community. The next thing for me would be (and still is) time management. I wish I was taught the value of time management growing up, but I’m grateful to have been learning as I go! And lastly, vulnerability. I tend to hide parts of myself in fear of no one being able to relate to the depths of me. Thats why my music has been on hold. I think vulnerability is tied to the absence of fear and although I am vulnerable in every other aspect outside from my music, the lack of expression tends to hold me back at times I’m meant to shine. So I’m definitely still working on this, and my advice to anyone on their journey is to take your time with getting to know yourself. And take your time in general. We live in a world where everyone feels they must achieve everything right now which is such a lie. There’s beauty in moving at a slow and steady pace and there’s so much more clarity gained through getting to know yourself without a timer attached. Just flow! Breathe, now flow.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am certainly looking for other entrepreneurs within the spiritual community to collaborate with! From bartering to brand ambassadors. If reading, please reach out to laisbodygalore@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram @Lbgalore if you are interested in collaborating. If you are wanting me to be an ambassador for your brand or to model clothing or accessories, please reach out to me at Malaisia.td@gmail.com or by my personal IG @laixgoddess.
