Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Streets Soprano of Buffalo

We recently had the chance to connect with Streets Soprano and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Streets , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing a dream, a vision, generational wealth. Not only for me, but for my family and team too. Stopping is not an option because too many people are watching & want us to win. There’s a new rapper out everyday, but with us- it’s all about longevity.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Streets Soprano. I’m a Black Soprano Family Records artist on Benny the Butchers label. I’m also the CEO of Trust Nobody Music Group, LLC.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I was born in Ohio but grew up in Buffalo, raised by a single mother. I’ve been interested in music since an early age, I remember going to the studio and knowing this is where I was meant to be.
I would have to say Benny the Butcher, amongst others taught my alot about this business and how serious it is. We have to pay homage to those who paved the way before us. He set the bar high on what it takes to be a musician and artist, which can be difficult coming from Buffalo NY.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Growing up in East Buffalo, we all go thru different obstacles and circumstances that’s sometimes out of our control. Going thru these struggles taught me to be resilient and never give up. We have to go thru these things to truly appreciate our blessings when they come our way.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes 100%. I’m me at all times, whether at home, in the studio, on tour- just everyday life. I wear many hats, but at the end of the day, I’m still Streets Soprano. U HEAR ME?

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I’m setting up, building and executing a plan to build a solid foundation. Everyone in the music industry (indie), understands that it takes 10 years or so to reach peak success as an underground artist. I’m consistent, motivated, and contributing to my long term success everyday. We’re working and moving around the city, state to state tours, as well as supporting our labelmates.
