Faith, Focus, and Sound: Prophocey on Building Real Music Records With Purpose

In this conversation, Prophocey reflects on Real Music Records being named Record Label of the Year and what that recognition affirmed about his spiritual alignment, leadership discipline, and long-term vision, sharing how he balances faith with entrepreneurship, expands beyond traditional label work into DJ services, theme music, and apparel, and looks ahead to film placements and major collaborations as a way to amplify impact, serve communities, and use music as a vessel for joy, connection, and purpose-driven growth.

Hi Prophocey, thank you so much for taking the time to share your journey and congratulations on Real Music Records being named “Record Label of the Year.” It’s exciting to see how you’re blending faith, music, and entrepreneurship, so let’s jump right in — what did that recognition mean to you personally and for the mission of Real Music Records?
The experience was immensely significant to me. It signified that I have been attentive to God’s guidance and that, despite all challenges, I remain aligned with my purpose. From a business perspective, it implies greater organization and regularity. Now that we’ve achieved this success, the real work begins. I must enhance my consistency in interactions with clients, and, most importantly, in my relationship with God. Ascending the corporate ladder requires a deeper commitment to nurturing my spirit. Maintaining a clear focus is essential, and mine is directed towards discerning God’s intentions for my next steps. I am thrilled about what lies ahead.

Real Music Records isn’t just about creating songs — it’s about spreading a message and using music as a tool for impact. How do you balance building a successful business while staying grounded in your spiritual purpose and values?
Believe me, it’s much easier said than done. I don’t let the allure and glamour overwhelm me. The more time I devote to my relationship with God, the more growth opportunities I encounter. Just like this one. This chance emerged from another performance in a different city. Before I knew it, I was featured on the cover of both online and print magazines, steadily expanding my portfolio. Balancing tasks in each hand while navigating a tightrope is challenging, but living life without God is utterly impossible. So, I remain steadfast in prayer.

You’re expanding beyond the traditional label model into theme music production, live DJ services, and branded apparel. What inspired you to diversify, and how do these services help you support small businesses and communities in new ways?
Being a comprehensive record label repeatedly resonates with me. In business, offering a wider array of options or services translates to increased opportunities for your clientele. This also implies a significant potential for profit growth. With exceptional products, a cohesive team, and a clear mission statement, your development is likely to progress rapidly. By consistently tuning into the needs of your community, you can build a lasting business foundation.

Music has a unique way of connecting people emotionally and instantly. When you’re producing a theme track or curating a live DJ set, how do you think about creating an experience that truly resonates with an audience?
I focus on creating an atmosphere of excitement and joy. I believe people often overlook how simple it is to share a smile. When I am creating a mix or performing a live set, I select music that I would want to hear while celebrating life’s various milestones. It brings me great fulfillment to know that I can use music to bring joy to others.

Looking ahead, what’s your bigger vision for Real Music Records — both as a label and as a platform for faith, collaboration, and positive change — and what kinds of partnerships or opportunities are you most excited to grow into next?
A primary goal for the label this year is to break into the film industry, as it offers a platform to reach millions. We are currently in negotiations to bring a Grammy-award-winning artist to Columbus, Ohio. Additionally, we are preparing for a film premiere on the West Coast featuring an artist from our label. We are dedicated to putting in the work and trusting in God’s timing for these developments.
