We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amy Loving a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Amy, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
Burnout is real and it is exactly what pushed me to take a risk become a professional organizer. I started Overflowing Grace Home Organization after practicing as a dental hygienist for 12 years.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am naturally gifted in organization. From pantries to cabinets, drawers, and closets, I love making beautiful spaces. I am passionate about all things organization. I am committed to helping create organizational systems that are sustainable so to get back to fully living. I have always enjoyed helping others and changing their lives through organization. I love helping bring beauty, flow, and calm to homes!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The qualities that have assisted me in being a successful organizer are attention to detail, precision, and minimalism. These traits help me to have vision while others might feel overwhelmed because all they see is chaos.
My advice to others on how to develop or improve on these skills would be to start small. Try to tackle a minor organizational project first and don’t be discouraged if it takes longer than you anticipated!
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
The biggest area of growth or improvement for me in the past year has been developing a positive mindset. I am able to release negative moods, emotions, and thoughts and re-focus on the good things in my life.
