Deborah Marie , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity comes from my experience growing up, I faced economic hardship. I saw how many were able to give to me and my family and all of our needs were always met. I realized that God was taking care of me and that he would always provide for me. This inspired me to give to others in need and help when I could.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Currently, I am a book author. I write transformative stories to help people that are similar to myself. I also have multiple businesses that I have built from the ground up. I have an all natural skin care line where I make natural based skin care products for sensitive skin. I also have other businesses based around my experience. The two recent businesses that I just started was my own practice and counseling service called ” The Sunlight Chronicles” @thesunlightchronicles which provides alternative therapy for a lower rate then most professional counseling services. As a licensed pastoral counselor I take pride in providing services to help and transform other’s lives. The other business I recently started was a virtual dance studio by the name of “Deborah Marie Rodriguez Studios” @deborahmarierodriguezstudios where I provide fitness, and dance courses. ”
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would have to say customer service skills, interpersonal communication skills and self awareness. It is very important to know how to talk and network with others without being biased or highly emotional when it comes to your opinions. Building relationships with your clients is important. It is important to be professional while still being understanding. Ive learned that everyone has a story this is what connects and joins us together.
What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I definitely believe that it is important to build on your strengths and do things you are already good at, but it is so important to also build around other areas to improve the gifts you already have. Take some classes, get trained in other areas. It is so important to be well rounded! You will find that being well rounded will help you in all aspects of your life and career and you can also use that knowledge to help others.
