Meet Jay DaSkreet

We recently connected with Jay DaSkreet and have shared our conversation below.

Jay, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from me recognizing very early on in life that there will always be SOMETHING in place to hinder you. Once that registered for me I stopped thinking of it as overcoming obstacles and I just looked at it as part of the journey to the goal.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a 10 year veteran in Hip-Hop that’s has not only paved my own way but also opened up doors and avenues for other artists to bring Hip-Hop to stages and platforms that were once unavailable to us!

I am currently working on two projects entitled “Bypass Surgery” which is a prequel and “Heart Of DaSkreet” which is a culmination of 10 years growing professionally and personally. Both of these projects will release with bundles of EXCLUSIVE merchandise!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Number 1 has to be knowledge of self. I say this because knowing exactly who you are leads to a confidence that can’t be altered or taken away by anyone else. It has allowed me to create exactly what I want to present to people without worrying if they’ll like it or not.

2 is my perspective believe it or not. The way I look at the word is totally unique to me. When I translate it to the world and let people see thru my eyes they get to see familiar topics, experiences and emotions in ways that are fresh enough to get their attention but still relatable in a way they can tune in to.

Finally number 3 is my dedication. I am tenacious when it comes to creating because… well I have to be. This isn’t something I do it is what I AM. Should I let anything get in the way of me creating and distributing art it would literally affect my well being. I will always find a way.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am looking to link with visual artists!! I am growing musically at an exponential rate and the time is upon me to create visuals and concepts that truly do the soundscape I’m creating justice. In addition to what I need I feel like these creatives could truly benefit from what I have to offer via my writing style and songwriting abilities. Movies need soundtracks, commercials need jingles and I got exactly what they both are looking for!! I can easily be reached by email at strsoldier23@gmail.com, but if that’s too old school for you I can be found EVERYWHERE from this link 👉🏾 https://hyperfollow.com/JayDaskreet
