Meet Leichen Wagner

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Leichen Wagner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Leichen, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I can’t say I have done that. Imposter syndrome comes and goes, no matter how much your skills grow. Sometimes I go between feeling like I shouldn’t be where I am, or that I should be further than where I am. It goes back and forth. I keep doing what I love and live my life. That’s all any of us can do.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an artist and pasta enthusiast. I draw a lot and write whenever I don’t feel like drawing. I think the most exciting thing about it is putting my own thoughts and feelings into stories. Not only does it help me express my emotions, but it gives me so much creative material to work on. Everything I create is very personal to me. I tend to live in fantasy worlds with magical or mysterious elements. If you need me, you can find me dreaming near the corner booth next to the window.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Trust, determination, and hyper fixation. For some reason I never had doubts that I wouldn’t become an artist or study art professionally. It’s always been something I loved and I knew I wouldn’t enjoy life without it. Because of that, I had to work towards reaching my creative goals. Thanks to my love of research and learning new things, I was always able to discover new ways to paint or draw or use shortcuts on a certain program that would further help develop my skills.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
It comes and goes but as of right now I am facing a bad art block. Luckily, my creativity is still stimulated with writing, but drawing or painting has taken a backseat for the moment. I know I will get back into it, but I hope that will be sooner rather than later.
