Meet YASUKE THE JASHIN

We recently connected with YASUKE THE JASHIN and have shared our conversation below.

YASUKE, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Honestly I am really stubborn. Like unbearably stubborn. My mom said it’s both a gift and a curse. I’ve watched her do the impossible on multiple occasions and I think it’s just ingrained in our DNA to keep going even when it gets rough. I have been through every possible hurdle and storm that I could think of and even when it got seriously dark my body just refused to give up even when my mind did a long time ago. I could only speculate that maybe it comes from my soul? I was told I was very passionate about things and it ignites others passion and drive so maybe subconsciously I feel like that’s my purpose. Truth be told there is probably a whole bunch of reasons for my resilience but I guess it just boils down to being of service to others in terms of impact and inspiration.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an artist of many contrasts and layers. I can go on for days about my story but I think I will keep it brief. I moved up here to Nashville for school and tried my hand at music though truthfully I’ve been passionate about music since like kindergarten. I ended up having to take time off from school as life happens and it led to me being homeless trying to figure things out on my own without having to worry my parents

(plan failed miserably by the way)

I really started to get into the music as that was the only way to take my mind off things and it led to me meeting crazy people that were super talented. Soon I started to get really confident with my art and jumped into the career full force and started gaining some buzz/infamy around my name.

Things took another dark turn when I lost my biggest supporter Dex…he was such a bright soul ostracized by alot of people and gravitated to my music because i expounded deeply on mental health. Down here mental health to most only means when you sad or going through things that triggers you but nobody gets into the nitty gritty. The anger and self loathing one feels, the numbness and hollowness that makes people bed ridden, the straight up manic and Psychotic episodes that you have to just love people who suffer from them through. That’s why I try to create that space within my following because i understand more than most think when it comes to that. Dex loved everything about it..:he’s one of the many I do this for.

People like Dex, the supporters, the ones who come out to the DIY shows the ones who will spend their last dollar to see a kid from Florida jump on a roof and yell and sing and cry into a mic. They are the ones who make this special they are the true mvps.

With that being said on October 31st I’m releasing an EP titled Shinigami. Completed with a roll out of shows in which profits will be donated to charities, merch and just an all around experience for the scene because I wouldn’t be anything without them. Through the good the bad and the ugly, I’m indebted to my supporters.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Most important rule I learned is ask for forgiveness not acceptance. People will shoot down your ideas out of fear or honestly envy don’t let them

2. Do not and I repeat do not be dissuaded by rejection people saw me open for Afroman for 700+ people and thought it was just me being successful not knowing that the song that got me to that festival and got a label ceo wanting to know more about me, was rejected by 20 playlists. That’s right 20 playlists rejected the song BANDIT! for a multitude of reasons. But even so I still ended up in a festival and on a label’s radar so don’t get discouraged you may just be ahead of the game.

3. Time is important time management is mandatory. Get a journal write down your big goals and them break them into smaller goals until you get to a day by day planner. I guarantee you with this method you will see major results. Increasing productivity by 1% everyday for 38 days shows an increase of 38% in little more than a month.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Off top the list goes Kandi Lake, Hollywood Prod, Cade Clair, Stefan, Zaron, EJ THE MAKER and Valhalla.

This is just a short list there are many more but these people have been key to my growth. Giving me advice on things giving me clarity on others. Especially Hollywood Prod. and Cade Clair. They have both been going the hardest behind the scenes for me.

Hollywood Prod. and I have so much to show you guys through the music that will give full understanding to how much growth I’ve been through as not only an artist but as a person too.
