We recently connected with Danny Pando and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Danny, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
This question is good because it has so many answers. I have been fortunate enough to work in an environment where my clients always have awesome ideas. Most of the time they give me an idea and then let me run with a vision until we find a happy place. Learning to tattoo in many different styles also allows me to change it up pretty often and keeps things very interesting. Don’t get me wrong there is still burnout, but with the field constantly growing there’s always a new challenge around the corner.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello my name Danny Pando and i am a tattoo artist in Arlington, Texas. I have been tattooing for almost 16 years now. I am originally from west Texas where i spent the first 10 years of my career before owing to the Denton area with my wife and kids. After spending 5 years working in Denton i have recently decided to jump back in to owning a business again. I specialize in American Traditonal and Neo-Traditional tattoos. I am also proficient in many other styles including black and gray, fine line, realism, surrealism, cover-ups and pretty much anything else you can think of. I am very passionate about what I do and try to give my clients the best experience possible. We have recently opened up Cedar Hollows Tattoo in downtown Arlington, about a half mile from AT&T Stadium. We are hoping to create an inviting semi-private space for all our clients to be safe and comfortable. Our goal is for everyone’s experience to be curated just for them so that everyone feels valued no matter how big small their tattoo is.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think for me the most important thing is to never stop learning. Always be willing and open to new ideas, tools, materials etc.with that being said we must also learn from our mistakes constantly trying to get better. You also have to surround yourself with people who all want to get better as a whole. All the knowledge is out there you just have to ask.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The challenge right now is opening up in a new city. I feel like consistency and quality will help spread the word. With previous experiences i feel like it should the goal will be accomplished within the year.
