Meet Dee Dee Moreland

We were lucky to catch up with Dee Dee Moreland recently and have shared our conversation below.

Dee Dee, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My divine purpose was imparted in me before I was in my mother’s womb, by God, my creator but I discovered it in the process of pain and lack. We all have been given a purpose but we often fail to recognize it, sometimes for many different reasons specifically, past trauma and loss can greatly impact how we respond to life. It can catapult us into arrested development where we are stuck in cycles of grief, regret and emotional prisons that causes us to squander moments and seasons of producing.

Being a victim of emotional abuse for a multiplicity of years had me totally convinced I had no value, I wasn’t good enough and having a purpose wasn’t even in my radar, so I just existed all while having a smile on my face and a hidden compassionate heart for others who’ve gone through the same. It wasn’t until I was in my forties when I discovered not only my purpose but how I was a diverse creator with multiple gifts, which includes a an author, life coach, ministerial teacher, gift of hospitality, exhorter and now a beverage-preneur.

When I left home in my early twenties I was a fragile young women who was determined to leave the familiar to pursue the unknown not knowing what to expect. I had a love for cosmetology so I achieved my license as a Master Cosmetologist and built an awesome clientele, won competitions and entered the entrepreneurial world with a bang. I’ve worked in the field for over 25 years up until a few years ago I started pondering over what my next would be and thru a message from church in 2017 God reminded me of a tea beverage I’d been making since 2009 for family and friends. Little did I know that the very thing I discounted as nothing was the exact thing God wanted me to turn into a whole business. Reluctant, afraid and knowing nothing about the beverage industry I named and legalized KrackTea LLC in 2018 and it was trademarked in 2020 right smack in the middle of the pandemic.

Shifting to a totally different industry has shown me that purpose is not always one thing and how layers and streams of ideas, businesses, books, witty inventions, etc are lying dormant in us waiting to be discovered first by us then by others. To some it up My purpose was there all along but pain pushed me to purpose and I wouldn’t change it for anything. It has shown me the inner strength to overcome hard things and to move by faith and not by sight.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the creator and owner of KrackTea LLC a Gourmet Luxury Tea and Lemonade Beverage. KrackTea was born during one of the most tumultuous seasons my husband and I faced since we married. Like many couples we started life together well purchased a home, worked, had a baby(our youngest) started a hustle on the side to help ends meet and then our faith was tested. My husband, who is an amazing provider, was laid off from his supervisor job with a 2 week notice, the mortgage company lost one of our payments and refuse to acknowledge it and after fighting with them for 3 months we found ourselves in foreclose, repossession, bankruptcy and the whole nine.

After relocating a few times we landed a rental, still struggling but maintaining. My husband was hired as a courier and worked all over the city for 3 weeks and the pay was a third of what he was owed….it was a whole scam. He was utterly frustrated and disappointed all while rent was due and my heart broke for him. I told my husband I don’t care what it looks like we are in this together and he knew that but sometimes no one can reach us in a low place but GOD and God did it thru our daughter , who was a toddler at the time. She crawled in his lap, placed her small had on his face and said “Daddy, it’s gonna be ok”. God used her to encourage his heart.

Meanwhile, with tears in my eyes, I had an urge to make one of our household favorite beverages, tea just to take our mind off of our problems for just a moment. I had a taste for something a bit different so I pulled from what we had in the pantry and started brewing the tea while adding as I went. I shared a glass with my husband and daughter and they were astonished! As time progressed I started making it for family functions by request and it would be completely gone in the matter of an hour. My husband and daughter loved it sooooo much they named it “Crack Tea” and encouraged me to do the same however, I was extremely reluctant due to not wanting to offend anyone. I tried calling it so many other things but “Crack Tea” just wouldn’t leave my spirit. By me having a love for words I looked up the word “CRACK” and to my surprise there were a plethora of definitions. I scroll down to the adjective form of the word crack which means “ELITE, EXCELLENT, TOP NOTCH”. Immediately, it hit my spirit like a bomb. I changed the “C” to “K” and it became “KrackTea”.

So you see, without a shadow of a doubt I believe that KrackTea was born on the backdrop of our loss, lack and pain which is the perfect canvas for God to create such an amazing product that we intend to one day introduce to the world globally!

Again, I’m Dee Dee Moreland an effervescent beverage-preneur who loves to engage in the community introducing KrackTea to person at a time!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
In this “walk of faith” journey I find my best three qualities are resilience, faith and consistency.

First, RESILENCE is built in my bloodline, even when I have days when my mind is telling me to quit but my spirit won’t let me. Overcoming adversity was my schoolmaster in knowing that what it looks like is not always what is. Resilience is not always about being strong outwardly but rather allowing my transparency to in the tough times, the crying moments and those seconds when fear seems to outweigh my faith.

Secondly, The essence of who I am is rooted in my FAITH and without it nothing is possible. Faith is the antidote to fear and most of us know how pursuing your dreams can take you down some scary detours and delays but nevertheless the whole point is to keep moving, one step at a time. Everyone’s journey is different and being confident in the fact that my journey is and will never be about finishing first but more about enduring til I reach my end goal not being in competition with anyone.

Lastly, CONSISTENCY. Pushing to stay consistent thru the good, the bad, the valley experiences as well as the mountain highs, have taught me that “I’m built for this”, regardless of moments of self doubt, discouragement and frustration. Consistency exposes your commitment level, your strength, your leadership depth even when you don’t know what’s next. Its that divine tenacity that keeps blowing wind under your invisible wings.

I advice anyone with a dream no matter the magnitude , go for it. Never let anyone’s negative opinion define who you are . Do what GOD placed in your healthy imagination. Pray, Create and Dominate

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
