Meet Lola Ravid

We recently connected with Lola Ravid and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lola , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

My confidence and self-esteem have grown over the years. Honestly, it has been due to life experiences and travel. Life experiences and travel have given me perspective, which can impact how you see yourself and others around you. I also believe in my deep-rooted love for volunteerism. Giving to others in any way brings fulfillment and self-esteem, and confidence.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
What do you do?

I am a pediatric nurse who found the typical nursing trajectory too constraining for my personality type. It was hard to fit into the mold. I loved everything about nursing school, especially the complex science, so I passed it with flying colors. Despite enjoying the process and enjoying every role for a season, something was missing. I needed to have complete control of my time.  So, I changed my narrative. I started Nomadic Pluma—a writing business, just a year ago. Today I am a nurse who writes to bridge health and knowledge gaps. I function as an expert reviewer on topics related to the pediatric population. Through this work, I can combine the nursing skills I enjoy, research, education, and writing. I write everywhere I go. I am originally from California, living in Israel, and traveling whenever I feel that feeling of wanderlust.

What do I feel is important about it?

It’s important to share because there is a movement of nurses taking control of their own goals and aspirations. Post-Covid, the nursing profession is changing once again. Nurses are now becoming entrepreneurs and business owners. They are creating. They are building. They are educating. Nurses are prioritizing their mental health, children, and families. Nurses in Business are game-changers.

What’s New?

I am constantly collaborating with like-minded people. I just wrote an essay and can’t wait to share it once it’s published. I am thinking of writing more on my blog, “Curiosities for the Curious Mind.” Who knows? The topics may spark interest in someone, somewhere, someplace, sometime.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

What you love to do + What you’re good at =  Together, find your niche.

Having that as the foundation of your journey. Three qualities to bring it to fruition:

1. Commitment to bringing it forward.
2. Resilience.
3. Have a financial plan to keep you moving forward throughout the “not-so-good” days.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My most significant area of growth/ improvement in the past 12 months has been assimilating into the new culture and language. I live in Israel now. I have had a full year of experiences that have pushed me to grow to enjoy living abroad fully.
