Meet Kelly Kleisner

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelly Kleisner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelly below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Kelly with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I grew up with many role models that worked their way from the ground up. Climbing career ladders in the field of hospitality. We were brought up understanding that nothing worthwhile comes for free.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I currently work as a freelance chef and also own my own business providing custom cakes and wedding cakes. I am currently working on a bachelor’s degree for health, wellness and nutrition. I am going to expand my freelance business into nutritional coaching.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Working for as many people as possible is a must. Whether it’s an internship or job, gaining knowledge is so important. Being humble in your craft and learning to take criticism, although difficult will allow you to learn more. Digging in and putting in the extra effort when others falter can put you in line for more opportunities.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My family and my friend group have been so helpful in being not only a sounding board but offering amazing advice. I have also not been afraid to reach out to people who are successful in their field for guidance as well.
