Camisha, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose when I survived my second Brain Surgery.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a lot of people know I created my Brand based on surviving brain surgery twice! The actual name of my Brand Brainiac91 came about as I was sitting at my work desk I wrote down Brainiac91. Brainiac was me laying in the hospital bed not being able to blurt anything out just medicated and full of ideas and thoughts. 91 came about being Psalms 91 was the only thing that I could actually say. As I was recovering I couldn’t find any clothes that were comfortable and stylish for procedures such as MRI’s, CT Scans getting my blood drawn, EKGs and so forth. Making the access for those procedures a piece of cake! I create stylish yet comfortable clothing for those who are going through major surgeries, cancer patients, children with special needs also people who are going through mental health issues. I even have clothing for pets! The most exciting part about what I do is actual experience. I personally experienced needing those comfortable yet stylish clothes and accessories as being a brain surgery survivor not once but twice. My goal is to be throughout hospital gift shops NATIONWIDE! The meaning behind Brainiac91 is so passionate! And the feedback I get is phenomenal!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back at when I created my Brand my knowledge came from experience. For me going through those surgeries have me the quality and skills for my Brand as far as being “bold”. When you go through something so major not once but twice you are prepared for ANYTHING! My advice for those early in their journey is to take risk and me compassionate about your brand!
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I like collaborating with humble people with the drive to not let anything stop them. I actually have a 2023 fall/winter fashion show coming up and I have some dope designers that I’m collaborating with! Street Caviar, The Jegna Klub and Kocky Apparel just to name a few.
