Meet Andy Elliott and Liam Nash

We were lucky to catch up with Andy Elliott and Liam Nash recently and have shared our conversation below.

Andy Elliott and Liam Nash, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Let’s be honest. Maintaining a creative spark has been quite the journey for a smaller podcast like ourselves amidst a sea of popular and well-known figures who effortlessly launch and skyrocket their shows daily. Quite frankly, these people contain the resources that many others need to get off the ground, like having a team, a budget for marketing, and the availability of the best cameras and equipment.

Nonetheless, we love being the underdog. And we embrace the underdog story.

To maintain creativity, we’ve embraced the need for constant evolution. We continue to upgrade our equipment to ensure top-notch video and audio quality. We’ve created a small team to help us navigate day-to-day obstacles. We’ve secured extremely notable guests for the podcast, which has been pivotal as it demonstrates our ability to attract prominent names, puts us on a higher pedestal regarding reputation, and introduces us to fresh followers stumbling upon our page.

Our strategy is built on the fundamental idea of creativity and adapting. It involves continuous learning, honing our vision, and making thoughtful adjustments. Rather than fixating on unattainable comparisons with others, we prioritize setting achievable milestones that slowly lead us toward our larger goals. This way, we maintain our creativity while staying true to our unique path.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Andy Elliott and Liam Nash are the creators behind the Man to Man Podcast, which began in 2019. It started as a show mainly about basketball but transitioned into a show about life, what’s going on in pop culture, and anything we wanted to talk about that was relevant, and not just sports all the time. We started interviewing guests who were musicians, social media stars, and pro athletes.

Before the inception of Man to Man, we were just two friends from Nashville who grew up together. We went separate ways for college. Liam played basketball in Illinois, and Andy attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. After we finished college, Liam moved to Indianapolis, and I moved to Chicago.

The podcast was our way of staying in touch, especially after things changed because of the pandemic. Our regular jobs weren’t as reliable anymore, so we decided to put more effort into the podcast.

That same year, DASH Radio in Hollywood noticed our online episodes and asked us to join their radio station. The station gave us legitimate credibility to reach out to more prominent guests on the show. We chatted with musicians like Marc E Bassy, Mitchell Tenpenny, Charlieonnafriday, Arden Jones, and Jed Wyatt. We also secured interviews with social media stars like Friday Beers, Dani Jackel, Joely Live, Kaz Sawyer, and Kane Trujillo.

Fast forward three years later, and we’ve just started season 4 of the podcast. In the first week of August, we recently went to Los Angeles and sat down with three massive guests: UFC superstar Jorge Masvidal, famous UFC announcer Bruce Buffer, and singer-songwriter & social media star Loren Gray. Individually, they each amass millions of followers online, and again, we’ve created short-form social media clips to collab with them online, which has helped us attract more viewers who weren’t already following us.

We’re super thankful for the people who support us, and we know there’s a lot more we want to do. We’re excited about what’s coming next.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Believe it or not, Andy and Liam’s personalities are relatively different. They complement each other well. So, that skill can be convenient when running a podcast.

Let’s just say Andy’s personality is very energetic, fast-paced, plays a character at times and doesn’t sometimes think before he says or does something. Whereas Liam is the smooth operator and guy most people would probably rather be around in a calmer environment. The duo works.

On top of personalities, investing in the right equipment is a game-changer. Learn what other professionals in whatever you want to pursue are using within their business, take bits and pieces of that, and apply it to what you’re doing. Aka, do your research.

The third area of knowledge to know is to be consistent. It’s a must. With anything in life, consistency has to be in your arsenal. When you’re consistent, you’ll learn more about yourself and your brand and understand what your audience may or may not like. You can find out what sticks by being consistent.

Know yourself, your brand, and understand what does and doesn’t work. And when times get tough, don’t give up.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
