Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Camilla Sanders . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Camilla , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
How do I keep my creativity alive? First and foremost, I will say it’s a gift from God. I have always been a crafty and creative person. I used to pretend a lot as a little girl and had visions of things. I had dreams to be a fashion designer and or an interior designer when I was younger. I would create things that I like, but was different than most peoples taste, it was my creation. But I did not get a chance to pursue those dreams like I wanted. When a client has an idea or an inspiration picture for their event, my mind goes into creativity mode.
I will have ideas to add to their request, and they will be so grateful for those ideas. Most clients say they trust my judgment and do whatever I please. That makes me feel very blessed and honored when clients can trust my judgment. I think a lot of my creativity is inspired by things I see. It can be something as simple as a vase, a picture in a store or in a magazine, or simply a vision that came into my mind. My creativity never shuts off. I’m always visioning how Love&Lux LLC can create great balloon art for our clients so we can provide the experience they envision. I also use inspiration from social media like Pintrest, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc. to help with my creativity. As long as you stay focused on your clients’ needs and create a little twist to the vision, creativity will always come.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a balloon artist, single mom, and a woman of God who God gave a vision that turned to into reality. Im focused on so much at this time. I work full-time, also I’m in school to receive my associates degree in Medical Billing and Coding as well, and running my business daily. Love & Lux LLC started February 2021. I was looking for something to help supplement my finances during the pandemic. So I came up with the idea for a dessert cart rental. I knew people was doing drive thru babyshowers and birthdays, so I purchased the dessert cart to rent out for events.I did a setup and advertised it on social media, and from there, business started booming.
Shortly after, I joined a class called Launch JoCo through The Clayton Chamber of Commerce, Clayton N.C. the program helped expand my business as well. They teach you the fundamentals how to successfully start your business.
I also joined virtual balloon classes with Pearl Holmes of OMG Balloonz LLC, who I seen on Facebook promoting balloon classes, enrolled in her classes and from there, my skills manifested. She’s an amazing teacher and person. Daily I’m still learning as a small business owner what it takes to succeed and become better for my business.
Being a balloon artist has been a great journey. I’ve learned so much about balloons, things that I didn’t know when I was a child blowing them up for fun. There’s different sizes, latex quality, colors, etc. I also started to make my own wooden props to rent out as well. Ex. chiara walls, wooden butterfly prop, and “Oh Baby” sign cutout.
I am my brand and I’m constantly building my brand. Our motto is “Pleasure in Loving and Fond of Taste.” If anyone is thinking about starting their own business, I say do it. No one can stop you, but you. God will give you the vision if you make the decision. Please join our page on Facebook Love & Lux L.L.C. and on Instagram Loveandluxnc. Thank you.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The qualities, skills or areas of knowledge that mostly impacted my journey were, trust in God, yourself and never give up. Everything we do is for a purpose in life. Always keep an open mindset, their is no such thing as a dumb question. Always do your own research if you don’t understand something. Never let someone tell you that you can’t unless it is the law. Keep reaching for the stars and soon enough you’ll be in the galaxy. Take one day at a time and enjoy yourself in that moment. Life is a journey in itself, and you’re learning each day.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m looking for skilled balloon artists who are willing to collaborate with us. I love what I do, and when you get creative minds together, we can create beautiful balloon art. I would love to work with more corporate clients as well. My biggest challenge would be a big upscale balloon installation. That’s my ultimate challenge.
