Meet Rebecca Faria

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rebecca Faria a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
Self-care plays a huge role in my life and helps me be a more effective business owner and mom. Self-care helps me feel good throughout the day, which means I can be productive and not feel exhausted, tired or lazy. One of the most important things for my self-care is my morning routine. I have a very concise morning routine that includes waking up before 8am, when the cortisol levels are in their highest peak. First after I wake up, I scrape my tongue, a very important step because the white plaque that I remove is full of bacteria that causes poor digestion. I then brush my teeth and have a big glass of room temperature water. Your lymphatic system uses water overnight to detox your body which means you wake up dehydrated. To continue the cleansing process, speed up your metabolism and protect your stomach, you need to be rehydrate. I then drink my Detox by Rebecca tea strips because taking a natural herbal tea on an empty stomach helps to stimulate and cleanse your lymphatic system, preparing it to function more effectively throughout the day. After that, I go for a brisk walk or if I don’t have time, I go to my balcony and sit under the sun for a little while. Exposing yourself to sunlight helps your body to release cortisol! Your brain needs to understand that the day has begun. Even looking at the sky already helps.

Another important part of my self-care is the lymphatic massages I get every week or sometimes twice a week. Lymphatic massage is extremely important to keep myself active and energized throughout my week as it puts my body in balance. That’s because the treatment removes toxins and excess fluids, reduces inflammation and bloating, and increases my energy and metabolism. Taking care of your body and especially your lymphatic system is the most amazing self-care you can do for yourself. Your daily effectiveness has everything to do with getting your brain and your body in balance and once you can master that, you’ll become an even more productive person.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Rebecca Faria and I’m the owner of Detox by Rebecca. Through years of experience and learning, including earning my Master’s degree in Body Aesthetics, I developed an innovative lymphatic technique called Detox by Rebecca. My technique combines various methods into one comprehensive treatment. For 12 years, I worked with lymphatic drainage massage in Brazil, where I studied Aesthetics and Cosmetology. Later on, in order to improve my studies even further, I went to Australia and deepened my knowledge in Oriental Medicine.

I’ve always dreamed of bringing lymphatic drainage to the United States. Although, I knew I would have to start from scratch and it wouldn’t be an easy path. When I finally arrived in Los Angeles in 2018, I had no friends or family and no money to invest in my business. I had to overcome several barriers, the biggest being language.
However, none of that stopped me. I remained determined to pioneer Brazilian lymphatic massage in my new city.

It was a tough road, starting with house calls which I had to get to using Uber since I didn’t have a car and my house was far from most of my clients. I wasn’t making enough money to support myself with lymphatic massage, so I also worked as a house cleaner to pay my expenses. I even did many treatments for free, just to get my work in front of more people. With that, gradually my clientele started to increase through word-of-mouth as people referred me to their friends. I worked 18 hour days, seven days per week because I truly believed in what I was doing.

After high-profile celebrities took notice of the unique benefits of my treatment, my reputation quickly spread throughout Hollywood. It’s amazing to see how lymphatic massage has become trendy and well-known not only in Los Angeles but also in other U.S. cities. I feel so grateful for the opportunity to introduce this effective technique to a wider audience.

Creating the Detox by Rebecca technique and bringing it to the United States has definitely been the most innovative achievement of my career. It’s an incredible feeling to know that I am making a positive impact on the health outcomes of Americans, while training other therapists in my technique and launching my brand and spa in Beverly Hills. Looking back at my journey, I am grateful for the hard work, education, and determination that brought me to where I am today. Above all, I give thanks to God for everything He has done in my life, and for the amazing people who have helped me along the way.

Now I’m lunching my Detox by Rebecca tea, a lymphatic cleanse tea strip that I take every morning and it’s crucial for my self care mourning routine.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the three things that were most impactful in my journey were my determination and resilience, my love for my job and clients and my discipline. I believe that developing discipline is one of the most important yet hardest skills. But that will make you stand out and be in front of sooo many people because not every one is willing to wake up early, go though hard moments and still keep focused. Determination for me was easy because I wanted so bad to live in a better place and be bale to do what I love… So I just kept working towards my goal to be a lymphatic expert in usa and slowly people started recommending me. By word of mouth I created my business.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
I feel that learning how to be a mother and combining it with work has been one of my biggest areas of growth. Being a businesses owner was never easy and especially after my baby was born, I had to be able to manage my time really well in order to be present for him but also for my spa. I also had to improve in trusting my team because I’d be spending less time at work and I needed to be able to be relaxed while I was away. My husband had a big role in this process as well. I improved as I let go of controlling issues and was able to trust more the people around me to do a good job. It was tough because my baby is the most important thing in my life and so it’s the business I created.
