Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stacy S. Crawley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Stacy S., we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
As a child, I was bullied by “friends” and family and it heavily weighed on my self-confidence and self-esteem. I was constantly taunted for the way I spoke, how I looked, the way I dressed, and my overall personality. Needless to say, this was extremely hurtful, especially coming from people that I thought loved me. I continued to experience this same treatment throughout high school and though it eventually stopped…the damage had been done. And I took this same energy into my adulthood, more specifically when I became a mom for the first time. I questioned everything I did and all the decisions I made. Sadly, it gets worse as I experienced similar treatment as I did when I was a child…bullying, disrespect, and not feeling safe emotionally, mentally, and/or emotionally.
But one day while sitting on my sofa crying as my kids slept, I cried out to God asking Him to take away the pain I was feeling and He said, “my child, why can’t you see yourself the way I see you?”
It was at that moment that I realized that even though I had experienced all the trials and tribulations I’d suffered, God still loved me and I was called and created for a purpose. I was destined for greatness and it all started with How I see myself.
Afterward, I took the time to work with a therapist and do the inner work needed to develop the confidence and self-esteem I have today!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hi, I’m Stacy S. Crawley, a mom of four beautiful girls (including a set of twins) as well as a Motivational Speaker, Empowerment Coach, and Author. I empower purpose-driven women to reclaim their power, ignite their confidence, and boldly become the women God created and called them to be. I LOVE what I do because 1. I’m walking in my God-given purpose and 2. because I get to pour into and transform the lives of women everywhere by telling my story of my own personal triumphs and trials. I do what I do because I believe it’s so important for us to be fearless in sharing our unique gifts with the world because someone’s breakthrough is tied to our destiny.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, these three qualities were the most impactful in my journey:
1. Being bold in my pursuit of what makes me happy
2. Being intentional about finding and protecting my peace
3. Being forgiving of myself and others, which allowed me to move forward in my life
I would advise anyone who’s early in their journey to give themselves grace. What’s meant for you will not miss you. Forgive yourself and others. Be intentional about releasing your past. Be bold and courageous in finding and fearlessly walking in your purpose.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
As a mom of four, an entrepreneur, and a full-time employee, I definitely get overwhelmed at times. However, here are a few things self-care activities I like to do that help me feel less stressed and allow me to “recharge my battery:”
1. Meditation and prayer
2. Take a walk outside
3. Hop on a quick call with your bestfriend
4. Take a long hot shower
5. Go for a drive while listening to your favorite music
6. Journal your thoughts
7. Get a massage
Just to name a few
