Meet Nicole Lockhart

We recently connected with Nicole Lockhart and have shared our conversation below.

Nicole, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
In all honesty my kindness comes from the simple rule; treat others how you want to be treated! My third grade teacher always told us this. On bad days where I don’t want to do anything and a friend needs help I remember how I would want to be treated and it helps me soften and treat those situations with kindness and help I can grant

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a photographer and creative director! I have been doing photography professionally since 2018! Im really excited and creating projects and capturing special moments!

I recently started diving more into styling and directing and have created a new instagram to follow those adventures @awakedreamingstyles

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three things that help me on my journey are 1. Dont ever give up. I live by that by the idea that if I never give up theres no way I wont have successes because even in failure I kept trying
2. Dont compare yourself
Your journey is never identical to someone else’s you can’t compare yourself or get upset at others successes. Comparing myself and beating myself up early on in photography only made me bitter. Ill never have what another person has. I need to focus on what I have and what makes me and my art special.
3. Never stop learning the day you stop learning is the day you stop growing!

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents ever did for me was simple.

My parents have always truly believed I could do anything with my life. They never let our financial situation, the state we lived in, the “logical answer ” ever get in the way of believing I could be anything I wanted to be.

I grew up believing I could be a rockstar and now I know I can

My career and this interview is dedicated to my late father who passed away August 2022.
