We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dennis M. Bones . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dennis M. below.
Hi Dennis M., you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from knowing what it’s like to not have any help at all. I come from a very communal upbringing where what I have is what they will also have. I’ve seen great people sacrifice the clothes off their back for someone who needed them more and those same people are who raised me to be the person I am today. I lend a hand anywhere I can in any kind of situation if it means the other person gets to take a sigh of relief knowing someone was there to help out!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Well I’d like to start off with saying that I am where I am thanks to my ancestors and what I would like to give to you is more of a mindset I’d like to share with others. The art of giving and sacrifice! Recognition of the dead and knowing what it means to go on a self fulfillment journey. My wife and I have had our business running for some years now and we read tarot cards amongst other spiritual practices best discussed behind closed doors. Over the years that we have been doing this we have come across a number of people who are really just looking for help out there. People who are lost and trying to find their way out of the deep and into swimmable waters. I myself have been on a journey for some time now and this journey is far from over! What I like to offer is help in any aspect. Giving you that advice you needed to hear or helping you face the problems you’ve been running away from internally, even sometimes just being an ear for people to vent to. My services are not restricted to only reading cards and I am always willing to hear people out on what troubles they have going in life and of course I offer solutions, either physical or energetic in nature depending on the situation. Aurora and I have big things in store for the future of our business and I can’t wait to share what we have to offer with the community!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Some things I’ve learned over the years of practicing is that everyone practices differently and we should not be quick to judge things we don’t fully understand. Having an open mind about how diverse our world is and how diverse other peoples beliefs may be is a key part of living in general. Having an understanding that not everyone operates and views things the same as you and you should at least be respectful of other’s practices.
I have come to learn from and compare the similarities of practices amongst various cultures and religions. I find it interesting just how much substance is shared between every belief and every ritual! You have to keep in mind that humans have been around for well over 300,000 years and in all that time? How many gods have been worshipped? How many rituals were practiced? How many of those were the same? Much of what I’ve come to learn has been that entities and deities have all had many faces over the centuries and how you choose to connect with your higher powers is up to you. Whatever face and whatever name you are comfortable with using to deepen your connection with these beings is entirely up to you. You have your own journey to embark on with them!
Keeping an open mind, managing your emotions and staying true to your word are in my opinion, the most important qualities that a person can have. Managing one’s emotions can help with decision making and future planning! That definitely doesn’t mean throw out your emotions and become a robot but managing and learning what upsets you, what you like, what you want and what you don’t want. Not being a slave to reaction is what I like to say! What that means to me is being able to come across a situation and being able to see the best solution for things without the excitement of emotions clouding your judgment.
Of course staying true to your word as well. I don’t need to elaborate on that much, just don’t lie and be honest about who you are with others.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Something I like to do when I feel overwhelmed is very simple in nature! Breathing exercises. Best way to calm myself down! I also utilize the 5,4,3,2,1 method which is: 5 things you can see
4 things you can touch
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
And 1 thing you can taste
For the one thing you can taste i usually use water and it helps level me out so I can make a clearer decision on what’s currently happening in front of me.
