We were lucky to catch up with Daniel Powell, Sr. recently and have shared our conversation below.
Daniel, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from the teaching of Jesus Christ. The Bible says it is better to give than to receive. “I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (Acts 20:35 NKJV) The Bible also says, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38 NKJV)
So, I learned how to give through the wisdom of God. The wisdom of God has given since day one, and she is still a giver today. Giving is a grace that God has given us, but a lot of people do not operate in this grace. Generosity and giving is a characteristic of Jesus Christ.
Therefore, when one has the wisdom of God, they have no problem giving. The Bible also says, in Matthew 25:35-36, “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ It takes money to run God’s kingdom, and this is why I give and how I make sure God’s kingdom runs correctly.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am an overseer and a prophet with an apostolic grace. Through the teaching of Jesus Christ and the help of the Holy Spirit, I dress and prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. I teach the Holy Scriptures through the power of the Holy Spirit and the revelation that God has given me. I also work with the Lord and the Holy Spirit to lay the foundation of God’s people, which is Jesus Christ.
Where there is a foundation, Christ can start building His church. Matthew 7:24-29 teaches us when we build on a firm foundation which is Christ, we can withstand whatever comes our way. A foundation based on God produces steadfast faith and life. “Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength; For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, And in a multitude of counselors there is safety.” (Proverbs 24:3-7 NKJV)
I also teach God’s people that they can have a life of joy and peace and be prosperous in good health even as their soul prospers while on the earth. This is all possible when God’s people are taught and receive the seven spirits of God, the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit, and are dressed in the full armor of God. God’s people can do greater works than Christ; they can operate in His will and in His kingdom to bring salvation to people that belong to God, Jehovah.
I have been in ministry for over 30 years, so I have witnessed and seen many miracles, signs, and wonders in the lives of God’s people. What I believe is the most exciting and special about what I do is seeing how the Lord heals, blesses, and prospers His people. As a true prophet of God, I am able to speak and share the word of God and see how it changes lives and increases their faith in Jesus Christ. I have been assigned to the area of birthing churches and overseeing ministries in Florida, Georgia, Mexico, and the Philippines, along with spiritually covering several itinerant evangelists and prophets. I am also the founder of Heaven to Earth Worship Center (HEWC) located in Tampa, FL, and Faith & Works Outreach Ministries alongside my lovely wife, Prophetess Esther Powell. I am the visionary and annual conference host of the Broken Men On the Altar (BMOA) conference that is hosted in Tampa, FL.
New things that I have worked on this year are the release of my sophomore book “Spirits that Fight Against the Kingdom of God” and the success of Faith & Works Ministries’ annual back to school giveaway to help families within the Tampa Bay area and surrounding communities. This year we gave away over 300 backpacks filled with school supplies and blessed 40 plus families.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey were humility, submission to authority, and love.
Humbly submitting to the will of God and to the word of God is important to fulfilling one’s destiny and purpose. Humility is just submitting to the love of Jesus Christ. I learned how to be humble by knowing that I am nothing when it comes to the presence of the Lord. I am nothing concerning the will of God, and because I have given my life to Jesus Christ, it belongs to Him. Christ is above me, and I do my best to obey Him.
Advice or counsel that I have for people who are early in their journey with Christ is that humility, submission, and love are the key to a prosperous life in Christ; Proverbs 22:4 “The rewards of humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honor, and life.” More counsel I would give to anyone in their journey in Christ is to believe everything Christ has said about their life and His will for them. Further advice I have is to be obedient to the word of God and give up the right to be right.
In addition to the three qualities I mentioned, I learned never to forget where you come from. I was a drug addict who used cocaine, heroin, pills, and drunk alcohol and was delivered by the Lord. This is part of my testimony and life when it comes to ministry, and I am able to reach back and be a witness to those who are addicted to drugs, to those who are homeless, and helpless so they know that there is help for them in Jesus Christ.
The time I spent in prison was a time to reflect on who people said I was. But once I received Christ, He taught and showed me the reflection of who He said I am, and through His grace and mercy, I am the overseer and prophet I am today.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth or improvement in the last 12 months has been to trust the Lord more. I had to trust Him even more in my giving, my walk, and in ministry. During the last 12 months, my area of growth required me to spend more time with the Lord and in the word of God to forgive God’s people and to keep my heart clean.
These past 12 months have really taught me to remain focused and not to let opposition cause me to believe a certain way. My faith in God has allowed me to grow and has caused God’s people to increase their faith in God too. As a result, I have received a 2023 Mercedes Benz S-class and have become an owner of another home which is over half-million dollars.
In addition, to my obedience unto the Lord and my areas of improvement over these 12 months, I have seen God move mightily in the lives of His people, who I cover spiritually at Heaven to Earth Worship Center (HEWC). They also have been blessed to be partakers of such blessings: such as many operating in ministry through (Women Excel Outreach Ministry, HEWC Feeding Ministry, HEWC Witnessing Ministry, and HEWC Nursing Home Ministry), receiving healings, major debt cancellations, many have purchased new vehicles and homes, received college scholarships, career promotions and advancements, successful marriages, birthed children, and much more.
