Meet Nicole Riggins

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Riggins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.

Nicole, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Finding my purpose was actually harder than one would link because of all the hats that I wear. My purpose as a mother, is very different than my purpose as a woman, and even a partner.

It took me identifying what it is that I do naturally and to embrace my passions with what I do naturally.

Naturally I am an advocate for the disabled, because I am the mother of very unique children. I am gifted to identify how to perfect systems to use what is already in place to achieve goals.

It took me embracing who I was authentically and taking off what others had said I should be. Once I did that, walking in my purpose became much easier.

It became easier because I aligned my goals with my purpose. Once I did that, it was also easier to identify which opportunities are for me and which ones are distractions from my purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
After my second divorce, I didn’t have the option to wallow in sadness. As the mother of four children that each had their own unique challenges and I did not have good working relationships with their fathers. – I had to get my life in order quickly.

During my time of rebuilding my life, I had to use that time to realign my life to align in every area to my authentic purpose.

Once I did that I took my real estate license exam and bought my 1st home. I launched Special Athete Avengers of Metro Atlanta – which provides guidance to organizations that want to offer Adaptive Athletics and offers Adaptive Athletics to those with Cognitive Disabilities.. I also launched Nicole Riggins Consulting, which helps families navigate IEP meetings in the Metro Atlanta Area.

Bouncing back after divorce wasn’t planned, but once I made it my mission to walk in my purpose, it made dating even easier. There are some wonderful single men out here, but my purpose doesn’t always align with theirs, so it eliminates them before any hard feelings can set in.

Purpose guides every area of my life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The 1st skill I had to master was that of surrounding myself with those that would push me to be greater. I had to identify my village. The 2nd skill I had to learn was the art of saying no to anything that did not align with my purpose and my destiny. The final skill that was critical was pouring into myself BEFORE I attempted to pour into others.

These all carry equal weight for me. I would advise anyone trying to walk in their authentic purpose really look at their village, learn how to say no and how to put themselves first.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents taught me was to be most concerned as how I see myself and put very little weight on the opinions that others had of me – including them.

I was able to get out of people pleasing quickly by leaning on this idea.
