Meet Ieshia Jackson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ieshia Jackson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ieshia below.

Ieshia, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
I simply over look the negativity coming from strangers and fake friends. The nay-sayers will always hate on a successful person because they hate when a person show any signs of self confidence and the ability to pursuit their dreams. The nay-sayers will never grab my attention because unlike some people, I go even harder when Im put under pressure. I turn negatively into positivity. When people say I can’t do this or that I prove them wrong. I will never fall viticim in being my worst enemy. You have to believe in yourself when no else does. When you have the people talking no matter if its good or bad that is when you know you are made it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Model and Fashion Designer. I started my brand called Belikeus in 2020 during the pandemic. My dreams in life were to become a fashion designer and model..When I graduated high school I wanted to go to fashion design school but I realize it was very expensive. I didn’t have much money at the time so I put my dreams on hold. When the pandemic hit in 2020 I was on YouTube one day and came across a video that teaches you how to make a pair of pant. I went to the nearest fabric store and purchased my first sewing machine and other supplies I would need. The first pair of pants came out perfectly. I have been sewing every since. But of course in every success story you hit a rough patch. I wasn’t making a lot of money so I started working a full time job and modeling on the side. I debut my collection in London earlier this year and I modeled for Nyfw , Lafw, and Oscar red party. I also worked with celebrity fashion designers at bet award weekend.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the 3 qualities I had was staying consist, staying true to youself, and always being kind and patience. The advice I would give to people who are early in their journey is to start off small and work your way up..dont bite off more than you can chew.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Overall my ideal goal is to partner with celebrities and other like-minded people in the fashion industry. I am a streetwear and evening wear designer so I would look to work with other designer in my genre. I would like to collaborate with upcoming photographers, models and designers. I am working on a fashion show. You can reach @Belikeus Jackson on Facebook and Belikeis_88 on Instagram.
