Meet La Kaliente

We were lucky to catch up with La Kaliente recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi La , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
My self discipline comes from being a Mother. Before I had my son I was reckless & careless. I feel like I had no purpose really other than to have fun and be selfish, no real responsibility. After I had my son everything changed. I feel like it grounded me into becoming the woman I am today. He gave me a reason, a purpose. He changed my perspective completely on life and what I really wanted out of it, because now that I had him life wasn’t only about me anymore, I had a person who depended on me & I was no longer alone. He showed me what true love is, passion, dedication, honor & loyalty. He showed me self discipline. There was times I was lost but I had to balance myself, I had to push through & go harder. I need results! The only way to get results and achieve your goals is to find purpose and let it drive you to your success. Nothing comes without sacrifice. It really comes down to how bad do you want it and what are you doing it for? Everything I do is for my son & family, to make sure I acquire generational wealth and residual income. I want to build a life that my son can be proud of, a true role model figure in his life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I recently released my second album called “22222” it’s out now on all streaming platforms! The ep is 5 songs, which are all produced in Philadelphia. Music has always been the light at the end of a tunnel. It has always been a way to express myself. Music was definitely my first love. Although I’ve always been into fashion growing up. Two years ago, I decided to transition from being a music artist into being a business owner & that’s when I created my clothing line Blue $trips. It is named after the blue hundred dollar bill & is now a sustainable brand. The eco friendly approach of garments & the sustainability of their fabrics and comfort has given a new look at environmentally safe clothes. I’m currently working on a new line of about ten pieces that will also reflect this philosophy.

Blue $trips is a unisex resource to the environment & builds the community by creating opportunity. The sustainability in the garments will make you feel connected to the collective effort in preserving the planet. Blue $trips offers a wide range of options, all made from sustainable materials such as vegan cotton, recycled polyester, and recycled denim.

Wearing Blue $trips garments will make you feel connected to the collective effort of individuals striving for a better future. Each piece is designed with care and attention to detail, reflecting the brand’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Staying positive, having patience and always moving forward no matter what the circumstance, are the three things that have had the most impact on my journey. Times have gotten rough for sure. Everything definitely has its ups and downs. The key is to stay positive even when all you want to do is be negative and sulk in your dissatisfaction. It’s super easy to get down on yourself and doubt everything because things may not be going exactly how you expected or wanted. Those are the moments when you push through and have faith in God, yourself & what you’re doing. It can get frustrating when the vision is not coming to reality as quickly as you’d want it to. Patience is essential in order to stay sane during the process. It’s easy to go into a dark place but that’s the moment you fight it and know that what your doing will succeed as long as you stay focused and have patience to see the vision through all the way. Moving forward no matter what is motivation to keep going even when you want to give up, You can only fail if you quit, I will always finish what I start and I believe in myself enough to know that I can achieve success in my endeavors as long as I keep moving forward. As long as you believe in yourself others will believe too. You set the example and the rest will follow.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking to collaborate with creatives and aspiring individuals. I’m open to doing collaboration events where I can incorporate my brand Blue $trips. I’m always looking for models, dancers, designers, photographers & videographers to build with. I curate & direct my own fashion shows where I feature 5-7 other designers on the runway. These shows build a network of people who are passionate about their craft. The opportunities that stem from these shows have been known to benefit the community. I have a media team that captures all the content, which can be used to build a portfolio. My ultimate goal when collaborating is to facilitate placements. I’m looking for people who are invested into their passion and have a drive and hunger for success. My vision is for the long run & for the bigger picture, not just for the right now. I need people who strive for greatness & who can never settle for mediocrity.
