Meet Justin l Douglas

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Justin l Douglas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Justin l below.

Justin l, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose by learning more about myself and what I like but more learning about my disability so I could challenge myself to be everything I was told I couldn’t my disability is what taught me my purpose many people don’t make it but I did

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Justin is a 9 year old author of 3 books and 1 coloring book (wrote his first book at the age of 7). His books have been published and sold by Amazon “Children with Disabilities”. Justin is known by his nickname “IRONMAN”, Master Justin loves to cook and is currently enrolled in cooking classes with the Cookery Project of Mobile Alabama, Justin loves music, making his own dance moves and fashion. He will often make his own remarks while getting dressed stating “I’M TOO FRESH”. He has a strong loving bond with his dogs “BIGGIE” and “ZOEY”. He is adventurous and loves exploring from an interest in bugs to making mud pies. Justin will one day become a “Private Celebrity Chef”.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Be yourself, be encouraged, and never be dependent always be independent in the things you can do! The only advice I have is to never use the words can’t because your tongue controls your mind which settle for less when you are the best at everything you put your mind to!

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
My book Dis-Is-Able the most impactful wisdom anyone can get before or after reading is to not judge a book by its cover because your are able and capable to do the same as others even if you do it differently the goal is to achieve and be successful not give up!
