Sidharth, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
This is a really difficult question to answer but certainly an important one. I think finding one’s purpose essentially comes down to being deeply introspective and figuring out what is important to oneself. Personally, I find meaning in effecting scalable change. My aspiration is to engage in technical ventures that hold the potential for transformative societal impact.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a entrepreneur, engineer, & polymath. I’ve been building startups since I was 16-years-old and I’ve experimented with various different ventures. I’m also a public speaker and I recently gave a TEDx talk at Rutgers University talking about the importance of leveraging technological solutions as a way to scalable address societal problems.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important skills in my opinion are: the ability to think critically/reason, the ability to persuade, and the ability to empathize.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
A book that I’ve recently read that had quite a profound impact on me was What We Owe the Future by Will MacAskill. The book is essentially about the philosophical concept of Longtermism, the idea that we should orient our societal actions in accordance with the interests of future people because they far outweigh the present population. It’s a very interesting read!
