Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Annette BoVee-Akyurek. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Annette, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
As a child, and years after, I often wondered, “What is my purpose in life?” As I grew, explored, and experienced life I realized that there is no purpose, no one purpose for sure. Everything we do or say has influence to the universe. When we shift, put forth action, or even just be (even if just internally), this has influence to others. Some say the purpose of life is joy; therefore can we influence ourselves and others to experience joy more fully? Saying that, I do enjoy assisting others, the community, and the environment. After all we all here together, and when “things are moving well” we all benefit and experience joy.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I am a “knowledge seeker,” always looking for the “next thing.” I trust that “whatever is next” shows up or comes towards me. In my journey in my work, it was always apparent the next field of study, and I followed what was next. Looking back I would have never thought I would “take on” 2 professions, but in time it came together in a way that allowed me to work with the total being; the only way in my view. In addition, awareness is key; being aware of your environment (seeing, feeling), trusting my intuition, and trusting myself.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I love to collaborate with others. Working in private practice can “feel lonely” at times, and I find collaborating with others of similar mindset stimulating and fulfilling. I also enjoy teaching and writing, which can “feel like” a level of collaboration as we share and exchange ideas. I also enjoy developing new, innovative programs; theres always room for growth, especially as it pertains to wellness.
