Meet DJ Gunzee

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DJ Gunzee a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

DJ Gunzee, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
It was a gradual process. I found my purpose by further exploring my interests. My love for art & entertainment is the one thing that has been constant throughout my life. I tried out theatre arts, dance, modeling and a few other things before becoming a DJ. Like every other thing it wasn’t easy in the early stages. but I made a decision early not to be deterred by any challenges that may come and to put a 100 in it. Also I love music, so DJing is something I always enjoy doing.

Practice for me is Key! That was how I developed my skills. Also, being consistent. Though it’s easier said. But if you plan to be in the business for. a long time you always have to show up. I use that as a reminder to stay consistent..

Today, knowing that I play a part in sending out good vibrations around the world gives me a sense of purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Adegbenga Oke aka DJ Gunzee. I’m a professional multi-genre DJ and an ol’ school music head. This is my 15th year DJing and it has been nothing short of an interesting journey

The most exciting thing about being a DJ is being able to share your passion for music with the world. Also, being a DJ provides opportunities for travel and networking.

I DJ Weddings, Private & Corporate events,

Currently, I’m the host of LiFtOffSundays at Xhale Lounge (13711, Westheimer rd. Houston,Tx) every Sunday from 10pm.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Persistence. Nothing good happens overnight

2. Integrity. To succeed in any business you have to earn peoples trust

3. Appearance – Look the part.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Take some time off of anything work related. Go swimming. Go to the movies or get together with friends and hit the club to party. Doing these things sometimes helps me refresh and be ready for the next task.
