We were lucky to catch up with Candace Duggan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Candace , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Through the daily practice of investing in my well being holistically, replacing bad habits with good ones and surrounding myself with family and friends who help me maintain confidence and self-esteem. My daily Yoga, Tai Chi, and Cherokee Medicine practices have helped me maintain a healthy balance in my life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

It has been a dream come true and all in my hometown of Fenton, Mi! I have my own crafting company called Pluto’s Dream and my number one request has been my handmade Cherokee Wish Anklets. I’m Cherokee and practice Cherokee Medicine. This is one of the many ways i can pass along my good medicine to help heal the world. Lastly, I’m a dedicated yogi, with the deepest gratitude for my practice. I lead a holistic lifestyle, based on self care, dedication to family, and service to my community.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Self-care, facing fears scared, and a strong support system are the major things that got me where I am today. With Yoga, hydration, and nutrition being some of my favorite forms of self care. Thanks to these practices I am a strong, confident, and capable person with a deep passion for Art and giving back to the community. Massage Therapy, Art, Cherokee Medicine and Yoga allow me to fulfill my life’s purpose to be healed and help heal others,
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My mother, Cynthia Welch! She has helped me every single step along the way. I grew up deeply influenced by her willingness and ability to take care of herself, her perseverance and grit, her unconditional love and support! All of our long talks and long walks, I would be so lost without her. I’m proud to say that I have followed in her footsteps as a massage therapist, she has paved the way for me and it’s such a beautiful path. The gratitude and passion we both share for our profession is deeply treasured and it’s what drives us to continue on.
