Meet Andy Dulman

We recently connected with Andy Dulman and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Andy, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I learned in college that finding one’s purpose starts with asking “why”. Why am I here? Through working and starting several non-profits in my 20, I realized the foundational power of community, connection, and support. I realized that I simply want to help the people around me improve their lives. My “how” became clear when I realized my passions, skills, and purpose could unite through real estate. I’ve always been obsessed with homes. Beyond works of art in their own right, I see a home as a memory hub. Every space reminds us of a feeling, experiences with specific people, powerful milestones, or just a space to feel safest in the world. Different places I’ve lived in my life have been a reflection of meaningful times and chapters in my life. Whether you’re a family looking for a place to grow, an individual looking to build the life they want, or empty nesters looking for adventure – the right home can bring a tangibility to life’s goals. Real estate can also seem scary! For most, it’s the biggest investment they will ever make with the biggest stakes. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming or intimidating – in fact, it should be exciting. Buying or selling real estate is an exciting move into reaching your next big life goal. That’s why I find so much purpose in real estate. I love being the matchmaker between goals and achievements, wishes and success, a dream and a dream house. At a time when everything feels transactional, I want this special experience to feel unique to every one of my clients – for them to see a high level of care, integrity, and enjoyability as a normal part of their real estate journey. I already have so many memories in my career that reaffirm my purpose. As an advisor (in addition to realtor), I love seeing people realize that they can achieve things they truly didn’t think were possible. Seeing baby pictures of young families in their new house, in the nursery they designed – gets me every time since I remember talking to them in their small apartment and hearing their concerns and worries several months earlier. I love what I do and I love why I do it. All I want to do is help people improve their lives and I’m so glad I found the perfect way.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I love working with everybody looking to make exciting moves in real estate. Whether it’s first-time homeowners experiencing an empowering transition, a family making a big upgrade for more space, or an investor looking to financially level up – I love helping people start the next chapter of their story by finding their next home. I’m also so lucky to have friends and colleagues all over the country and am always happy to help connect the right people with the right realtor outside of Los Angeles. I consider myself wildly lucky with how many incredible people I work with every single year. To share some fun news, I recently starred in an episode of House Hunters on HGTV – would love for you to check it out!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
To me, nothing is more important than integrity, care, and a sense of humor. Real connection is built on trust and that is a non-negotiable for me. I’ve done this enough to realize it’s not worth doing any other way. All I want is to get you the best results in a way that makes you feel comfortable and confident from start to finish. Also, why do anything important if you can’t also have a good time doing it. As seriously as I take my work, I also know that fun is not mutually exclusive to business. I think it’s essential. In my experience, fostering an enjoyable and highly personalized process always leads to superior results.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not a “bus bench ad” kind of realtor. Stuffing wasteful brochures into mailboxes and spam-calling people during their dinner just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve been so, so fortunate by how powerful word-of-mouth referrals have been in my business. It’s both the highest compliment and also the lifeblood of my business. I love the work that I do and I love all my happy clients. My greatest challenge is in finding authentic and organic ways to meet new clients. I am not the loudest realtor and I don’t want to be. So for me, this a challenge I think about constantly and I’m always exploring new pathways that feel right to me and to prospective clients.
