Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keela Starr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Keela, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
I introduce self care into my life in different forms. I practice self-reiki and meditation daily. That keeps me grounded and balanced. I also enjoy making natural body products, cooking and baking as a creative outlet– it brings me peace.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a certified Reiki Master and Officiant. My practice is called, The Nova Center. My office is located in Atlanta, Georgia and the majority of my clients are referrals. Referrals are such a huge blessing to me because it shows that I’ve made a positive change for them, and in return they want to see people balanced and thriving.
Most people will ask, “What is Reiki?”
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing, a type of alternative medicine. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which “energy” is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.
I was introduced to this form of energy healing in 2016. I was seeking something that I couldn’t put my finger on. Growing up and spending the majority of my adult life in the church, I was taught that we were created to be a blessing. I knew I had a gift, I just didn’t find that gift as traditionally as some would understand.
I truly believe in miracles (I’ve experienced a few modern day miracles myself) and the giftings of God.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe that the three things that lead me to where I am today is first, having an innate ability to see things defined as well as abstractly. Also, having an open mind mixed with diligence, and last but absolutely not least, having the faith to trust what my spirit/gut is telling me–an inner knowing.
My advice to those people that are ignoring their not so “practical” gifts are to;
-Follow the breadcrumbs/leads
-Do your research
-Keep your circles tight.
-Trust yourself
-and LISTEN
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The most recent book that’s been impactful to me and the first one that pops into my mind is, “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. This book feels very familiar to my soul. I had a journey with several friends about 17 years ago that was definitely a tale, a story to be written. My trip was full of manifestation and the favor of God. I will never forget it and that’s how I see myself, as Santiago in “The Alchemist”. My favorite quote from the book is, “To Realize One’s Destiny Is A Person’s Only Obligation.”
