Meet Rishi Patel

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rishi Patel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Rishi, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic definitely comes from my late father. He was always finding ways to provide for his family through working 12-24 hour shifts, formulating business plans or just trying new things to see which ideas would stick.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
It has taken me over 20 years to really figure out what I was really passionate about. I’ve worn many hats throughout my personal and professional life. From 9-5’s for different companies, to a self employed nightclub promoter to now owning a restaurant. It wasn’t always easy finding my way. I never had the opportunity to really think about what I wanted to do with my life. I did know, however that it had to be along the lines of making people happy. I found this through nightclub promoting and turned it into a restaurant that could further my agenda of providing a service for others to enjoy. I love the planning, coordination and service that goes along with the service industry. I feel I try to cater to all walks of life, tastes and preferences. It feels fulfilling when something i’ve taken upon myself to provide makes others happy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I have always been nostalgic. That’s number one. It is my driving force that i’d love to give to everyone around me. But in order to achieve nostalgia, staying focus is a close second. Obstacles will always come along the way, but if you stay focused on your end goal, you find better ways to navigate through your struggles. God plays a huge part in my life as well. I try to always keep Colossians 3:23-24 in mind when doing anything in life “Whatever you do, work at it will all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human master, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving”. Bringing happiness to others can only be achieved by working for the Lord first in my opinion.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My late father taught me the art of business. Although he graduated with a college degree in Chemistry, his passion was always to open businesses. He had his trials and tribulations, but ultimately through his failures he still always found a way to make things work in the end. What I most appreciated was his tenacity to see a business through even if it failed. I was a risk taker. He realized that risks were the only way he could learn to be better and hone his skills which eventually turned into successful businesses.
