Meet Nelly Chanelle

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nelly Chanelle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nelly below.

Nelly , thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?
My self-discipline comes from goal setting. Goal setting is the first step to a life of self-discipline. In order to accomplish your goals a plan has to be set in place. This roadmap helps you sort out your every day task and through this you find self discipline. Im far from perfect I fall off course all the time, but I also know that self discipline is not a trait w’ere born with, its something that has to be practiced.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Nelly Chanelle Films is a video production company based in Atlanta, GA. We specialize in the art of music videos and comedy sketches.

Creating comedy sketches has been the most exciting part about my business journey. There’s so much involved in the process: Writing, casting, directing, filming, acting, editing etc. It’s like making soup, you need a number of ingredients to create something rich. Anytime we shoot I feel like a kid again. There’s so much to explore and a never ending learning curve. What I love most is seeing my vision come to life.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back I would say my confidence, willingness to learn, and empathy has played a major role in my journey.

Your confidence can have a major impact on your life. A lot of our decisions are made through our levels of confidence. Here are some tips to improve your confidence. Stick to your morals. When we don’t stick to our morals, we grow anxious because we aren’t living in our truth. Another way to build your confidence is through goal setting. Even if the goals are easily achievable, accomplishing them will give your confidence a boost. Another way to boost your self confidence is to tune out the noise. Don’t listen to the non-believers, tune them out and keep working bts. Know that your consistency will only improve your work.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
“Mastery” by Robert Greene has made the biggest impact in my life. I’ve read all of his book and they have all helped me develop my character. Here are some quotes you can expect from this book.

“We cant rely on others to give us constant validation.”

“The time that leads to mastery is dependent on the intensity of our focus.”

“The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways.”
