Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexis Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alexis, so happy to have you with us today. You are such a creative person, but have you ever head any sort of creativity block along the way? If so, can you talk to us about how you overcame or beat it?
I paced myself. When I first started writing my book I had writers block all the time and I wasn’t sure where it was coming from nor how to tackle it. Whenever I started writing and I got stuck I stopped writing for the rest of the day to recharge my mind. Never force yourself to write. Take your time, take breaks, and go back to writing when you feel ready.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
So my name is Alexis Williams and I am the author of a book titled How to Get Through College and What I Wish Someone Told me. My book is a product of experiences that I encountered while navigating through the challenges of college with little to no guidance from anyone. My book is intended to motivate, encourage, and inspire anyone intending to go back to college, or begin college. It also holds the purpose to ensure current college students graduate college, high school students attend college, empower individuals to follow their dreams and pursue finding their purpose, drive, and vision. My book is also a quick and easy read with various writing activities throughout the book. The most special thing about my book is that it will live on forever and ever! There will always be someone who is going to school and is in need of guidance.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say patience, goal driven, and experience. My advise would be to pursue your purpose no matter what or how long it will take you to get there. Stay focused on your end goal and your why.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes I am! I would love to collaborate with educators, students, schools etc so that I can provide my book to anyone that is in need. I would also love the opportunity to speak to individuals in person and talk to them about their goals, passion, dreams, and what I can do to help.
