Meet Ashlee Makuch

We recently connected with Ashlee Makuch and have shared our conversation below.

: Hi Ashlee, so excited to have you with us today and we are really interested in hearing your thoughts about how folks can develop their empathy? In our experience, most folks want to be empathic towards others, but in a world where we are often only surrounded by people who are very similar to us, it can sometimes be a challenge to develop empathy for others who might not be as similar to us. Any thoughts or advice?
Growing up I experienced a lot of loss and with that comes with a lot of grief. You learn to become empathetic to others because of the experiences you have gone through and thus learning how you want to be treated in those moments which reflects on how you treat others in those moments as well.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a travel luxury wedding and portrait photographer. The most special thing about my job (can you even call it that when you love it so much? Lol) is being able to capture everyone’s most cherished moments for lifetimes to come. Freezing those special moments is one of the absolute best parts. I am based on the east coast but always ready to travel! We are currently branching out into luxury boudoir and it has been the most amazing thing to watch women embrace themselves and their bodies and love the skin that they’re in

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back I’d say the 3 most important skills / qualities would be – time management
– organization
– communication

My advice to someone early in their journey is don’t give up, each day is a new experience and nothing is ever perfect the first go-around so keep trying!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always welcome and willing to collab!

Creative sessions or Styled shoots are what I am most interested in collaborating on. The best way to reach me would be via email – hello@ashleeemersonphotography.com
