Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennifer Eichelberger . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
First and foremost I received my work ethic from my parents. Growing up in the hills of West Virginia, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the remarkable work ethic displayed by coal miners. From an early age, I learned invaluable lessons in honesty, integrity, discipline, responsibility, and perseverance. These qualities have become an integral part of my character and have shaped me into the individual I am today.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My career has been adventurous and I have enjoyed every minute of it. In the late eighties and early nineties, I did research on what was then called “the greenhouse effect.” From there I was part of a team that was introducing e-commerce in the oil industry, which eventually lead to corporate meeting planning, which opened a door to public relations and eventually television producer! What an adventure.
Currently I am an author of the book “Self-Care: The Vital Art of Nurturing You.” I also enjoying playing my flute for different events such as retirement parties and fundraising events. However my passion is that of being a motivational/inspirational speaker.
I am a member and serve as First Vice President of the Gwinnett Section of NCNW; member of Top Ladies Distinction as well Vice President of Public Relations in the Interstate North Toastmaster Club.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
This was hard to narrow down to three qualities and skills, however I will say communication/listening, creativity, time management and I must add discipline.
Advice to a younger person:
Study the lives of success people.
Get a mentor and or coach
Where you are now, is not where you will end up—Never ever give up.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth in the last year is mastering the art of extemporaneous speaking. I was able to grow in this area by joining Toastmaster and getting a mentor in that field. It has been actually life changing.
My leadership skills have improved greatly as well.
