We recently connected with Bret Cooley-Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Bret, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Confidence and Self-esteem come from being comfortable and knowledgeable in what you do. I consider myself to be a person that tackles every obstacle thrown at me head on so when I am lacking in knowledge I have no problem reaching out for assistance within my peer or leadership group. The feedback I receive helps me boost my confidence and self-esteem. And I believe this has taught me that it is ok to make mistakes as we are all continuously learning and growing. So I allow myself grace when it comes to my craft. Recognition is also a great booster from crowd feedback, peer feedback , client reviews that all helps my overall confidence level.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a traveling mobile bartender. I find what I do to be so exhilarating because I’m given the opportunity to travel, network, meet great people in a low stressful environment. As festival season is coming to a close , Wedding season is fast approaching and I am looking forward to meeting the amazing brides I‘ve been chatting with the last few months.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Being personable, adaptability and pivoting have been most impactful in my journey so far. My best advice as it relates to these skills will be: -We are in the service industry so being personable from the first initial conversation with a client is a must. Clear communication and planning. Then day of having crowd engagement is a mist.
– Adaptability is also key as there will always be times that things don’t go as planned so going with the flow to still
Execute as planned but the key is not letting others see you sweat under pressure
– Pivoting falls in the same category. Learning to use what you have , create new ideas on the fly but all while keeping the clients happy and crowd engaged for a seem less experience
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Always! I would love to partner with more caterers as food and drinks go hand in hand. I love the coordinator circle that I have now but if I am able to connect with more to reach other potential clients that would be a win/win.
