We were lucky to catch up with Lovxll recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lovxll, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my self awareness of being somebody that’s naturally gifted at certain things, but understanding that it’s not enough to be great. So throughout my whole life, I’ve worked tirelessly at various crafts to get good enough to set the table for greatness. My highest motivation is greatness in every aspect, knowing that it’s a process of daily self-work and a series of daily deposits in the direction of my dreams.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m an artist & entrepreneur from the inner section of Los Angeles with a real story that people from my community and others like it can relate to and identify with. I pride myself on my ability to authentically communicate my experiences and the situations I’ve seen and been through in my music and I think the level of detail that I rap with is what draws people to it. I just released my newest project “Easy Call” on Tuesday, August 22nd to an incredible response from the community. I feel like it’s my best body of work to date and the people feel the same so make sure y’all tap in and let me know what you think about it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Resilience/Perseverance – Can’t separate these, because they’re one and the same. If anything, these qualities are the story of my life.
2. Seeking Knowledge – I’m relentless with trying to get game from people that have done what I’m doing and have blazed the trail for people like me. Books, interviews, whatever it is, I’m always studying the game in some way, shape or form.
3. Cultivating a team – Recognizing that I can only do so many things myself, I built a team of inspired, talented individuals that understand my vision and help me to execute at the highest levels.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth this year has been with my patience and my diligence. My album dropped last week and I’ve already learned so much about rolling out a project that I’m going to incorporate into my next releases. I always want to move fast because I usually make the music so fast, but this process taught me how to really take my time and craft a complete, cohesive artistic vision. The music, the photos, the visuals, the merchandise, everything has an aesthetic that’s aligned – these are really the foundational principles of building a world and that’s what I’m trying to do every time I come through. Practicing patience in my personal life and in my profession has just shown me the value of not rushing, but being as prepared as possible for my moment.
