We were lucky to catch up with Aponi Balderas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Aponi , so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
When it comes to creativity, I love taking inspo from other artists whether it be hair, makeup, brows/lashes especially out of state. In the esthetic industry we have the opportunity to be super creative + aesthetically pleasing when it comes to our work and portfolio. But this all takes work and with lots of work should come rest! I’m all about getting in my rest, self care time!

I’ve been a practicing facialist for almost four years. I got into skincare and skin treatments through my own skin issues I wanted to address – I wasn’t taking great care of my skin and was tired of feeling like I had to cover up my skin with make up everywhere I went. Throughout esthetics school I was able to work on multiple skin types, conditions + colors as well as get my hands on a lot of professional skincare. My room/house literally turned into a mini spa. Staying Focus
Are what has got me where I am. As crazy as entrepreneurship / small business can get its so important to stay focused on what you want for your business and yourself, while also being confident in what you bring to the market all while staying self independent because if your a solopreneur like me you have to be the one to hold yourself accountable.
Staying organized, having a mentor or someone to hold you accountable, and a list of short/long term goals can go along way + is a good place to start in my opinion.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is female or male who cannot leave the house without being moisturized + protected with SPF. They love when their skin has a natural glow and healthy looking. They keep a balanced lifestyle + love taking care of themselves so they can show up their best + feel confident in their day to day. My ideal client loves investing in their monthly skin treatment, gets excited about purchasing skincare recommended just for them, and stays in contact with me about their skin journey and progress.
Having a relationship with a facialist, who you trust with your face, being able to pick their brain and ask questions whenever are all valuable qualities I think everyone should have!
