Meet Gregg Erwin

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gregg Erwin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Gregg, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I believe that if you woke up this morning still alive and above the dirt it’s a good day! Sure there are things that will be you down and cause struggles, but, that is what makes us who we are. You can always choose how you’re going to deal with things and keep your head up, be thankful.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a singer song writer and country music artist from the North Georgia Mountains. I’ve been performing almost my whole life. I started this new journey of making music for a living back in 2015. I have been so blessed to be a part of so many different events shows of all sizes. On the average I play well over 300 shows a year, sometimes 400 plus. I try to do my very best at each and every show no matter if it’s for 20 people or 100,000. I do mostly cover songs but I do incorporate my own music alot of the time too. I really love getting to meet new people and develop friendships along the way. I’ve met some amazing people I currently have one EP out that you can find on every platform. The name of the EP is 200 Proof.
I play mostly throughout the North Georgia Mountains from Ellijay GA to Blue Ridge, GA, Helen GA, Toccoa GA, Gainesville, GA and up into North Carolina and Tennessee. I’d like to spread out and play in other places, but, I stay so busy that there’s just no room to add many more towns and venues. My wife and I are working on some new songs that I plan to release very soon possibly in early 2024.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I guess the three qualities or skill sets that have helped me most on my journey is my outlook on life in general, I am so happy to be blessed with another day when I wake up.. Another one is my determination, I don’t use any music stands or lyrics things when I perform, instead I choose my material that I think I can perform well and also fits my style and I learn it. Sometimes it takes a week to learn a song and a month to really get it where I want it. The 3rd thing is probably my compassion and passion to help others. Music can be a healer and you never know what the people in front of you are going through.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The number one obstacle I am currently facing is time. There’s just never enough time. I have a ton of songs that I’m in the middle of writing and on the average 7-10 shows a week that I’m playing. Social media and online stuff to keep up with and I have family time to work into the mix. (I don’t want to miss out on that.)
There’s just so much to do and so little time to get it done. I’m trying to better organize my time so that I can get the very most out of every day.
