Meet Hila / Halo Plitmann

We were lucky to catch up with Hila / Halo Plitmann recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Hila / Halo, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I open my eyes and am amazed and in awe of being alive! I have been doing a daily gratitude practice for a good many years now, and for me the cliché holds true – the more awareness is fostered within of the good seen and experienced in world day by day, the more keen the understanding of the miraculous nature of things, and that fills my cup with optimism. It means that I can find and choose Gratitude in all manner of circumstances.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As so many nowadays, I am a multi faceted artist. I started off mainly as a singer of classical music and am so enlivened by the current boundless breeding ground of art. I feel it encourages the explorations of our expressivity, and that is stellar! I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy performing, creating and recording in such a vast array of musical genres, and diving deeper into the worlds of acting and producing. I love all of these processes and learn such value from each of them.

This year for the first time I’ve gotten to executive produce a gem of a poetry podcast, called There’s A Poem In That. Created by celebrated poet Todd Boss, it allows strangers to transform an aspect of their intimate stories into poetry. It’s human and moving and so so beautiful!!

I’m also got two albums still to come out this year, in which taking part has been an absolute delight. One is an album that features the exquisite vocal music of Richard Danielpour, one of the great masters of contemporary classical music living today. The second is MYTHOLOGIES II – a continued journey of the first Grammy award winning album, bringing alive the subject of Greek Mythology through the unique compositions of Danae Vlasse, along with singer Sangeeta Kaur, pianist Robert Thies, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lyris string quartet and other fabulous musicians.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
These three feel to be essential in my own personal path –

*DISCOVERING THE JOY OF PROCESS: for me that’s what this whole dance is about. Anything that comes to fruition is a stepping stone for the next creative adventure, an opportunity to learn something and celebrate that learning, not take it all , including myself, too seriously…Even more importantly, it keeps my heart open, present and authentic.

LOVING THE BODILY INTEGRATION OF THE ART – for me that quality gives a sweetness to practicing and work. It has allowed me to develop efficient memorization skills and a connection to my own unique sense of expressivity.

SIMPLE, HONEST APPRECIATION – of all the elements involved! Whether it’s the people that support us as artists, collaborators, audience, managers, all the technical components, the times we live in and on and on. I am keenly aware that getting to do what I love as my way in life is such an immense blessing. That awareness makes me want to give back in whatever way possible.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Chôgyam Trangpa Rinphoche’s: SHAMBALA, The Sacred Path of the Warrior.

A wonderful book, that fell into my lap about seven years ago and transformed my life.. It deeply sowed within my mind and heart the seed of KINDNESS as the most vital of human thought and action. It also opened up a world of understanding regarding my relationship of trusting in the intrinsic goodness of this world.
