Meet Kellie Block

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kellie Block. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kellie, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I am my Biggest competition! I see what others create and take it to the highest level. I never say Can’t and Quitting is never an option! Do it the Best way possible or don’t do it at all.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
When I first began Metals And Magnolias, it was simply a place to share my interior design ideas with friends. I started photographing my life at home. I founded Metals And Magnolias with a mission to give others a peek of what goes on in my world, and I have been at it ever since. Posting here and there, but slowly found myself working on new design ideas whenever I had spare time. That’s when I knew…Full Speed Ahead!

Recently, I collaborated with a few well known brands to showcase their Amazing products in my home…Fulgor Milano, Asko, Downlite, Caraway, and Westinghouse. It’s an Honor to work with all brands. My home is more than a house it’s my place of business for all my Social Media Followers and Friends/Family to get a glimpse in to my world of Interior Design.

My goal is to encourage and inspire others through thoughtful and intentional design…focusing on current design trends. I always try to share my vision and motto ~ Less is More!

It brings me so much JOY to meet people who share my passion.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My career as an Interior Designer has been shaped by many projects along the way. From College to Designing super mega yachts, hair salons, and Crate & Barrel stores…I feel like I have touched every aspect of design. Let’s not forget designing custom homes (from design to build to finishes) for family and friends. I have learned what looks GREAT and what does NOT! The most expensive thing is not always the best option. Sometimes Less is More!!!

My advice for future Interior Designers is learn from others…agree to disagree! Always back up your ideas with facts and reasons why…make your self heard. Go with Your Gut, but do not be afraid to make a change.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
When I was 15 years old, my parents designed and built their first custom home. My parents allowed me to select all of the interior finishes. This truly influenced my career as an Interior Designer. The Interior Designer that my parents allowed me to work with said I have an Eye for Design.
