Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stacey House. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stacey, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I’ve realized that confidence and self-esteem are an ongoing thing. It’s something you can always grow in. Realizing that you’re more than enough may come from tons of hardship. I am a rock climber and surfer. When I compare myself to my fellow athletes, I have good days and bad days in rockclimbing. If you choose to rest while you’re on the mountain, it can feel like well….my climbing partner didn’t rest maybe I’m not as good as them. or maybe my friends are catching bigger waves than I am, etc. but you have to ask yourself what does the best really mean? In many competitions one day this person is in 1st place, in the next competition they may come in 3rd. Does that mean they’re not that great at what they do anymore? The waves change everyday. We have good days and bad days if we focus on “being the best” all the time we are going to loose who we are. I think our ego likes to compare ourselves with others, and it just takes away from your own race and your own fun. It can steal the joy you could be having because you’re so focused on other people’s races. I use God as my solid rock of my confidence, of course I’m always growing in my faith. Sometimes you can only learn to climb on the hardest mountain. I’ll reach the top but there’s always another higher mountain to climb, so you have to remember to be confident that you’re doing your best. So whatever hard thing that is put in front of you. Just remember that God helped you do it before, and he will help you do it again. In that way you don’t have to rely on yourself with life’s ever changing waves.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I have been a Actress for 13 years in Los Angeles. I speak about it in my book “Hauling Hollywood” available on Amazon. This book is full of my personal advice about all life’s ups and downs. It’s filled with interesting and inspirational people that I met while ride-share driving. It’s fun and funny to read!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
#1 if I could go back in a time machine and tell myself to have more fun at what I loved to do. All the pressure would have been off, and I wouldn’t have burned myself out many times.
#2 Dreams Do Not Expire. Quit worrying, it will happen
#3 yes it’s a journey not a destination, this Cliché is MORE than true!
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Self-love has been the most improvement in the past year. When we work on not judging ourselves, we also work on not judging others. Life is a reflection of what’s going on inside of you. Yes, it’s cliché to say choose joy, but if there’s no joy inside of you, even if you get to your destination you won’t be happy. You have to be happy with the small things first. It doesn’t matter how big of a success you are, the smallest success or baby step leads to every big moment. Believing in yourself, and trusting that God will make a way where there is no way, is what Faith is all about. God wants to help you get there, but he cares about how much you love yourself and others, so he will work on that part of you. That will be the mountain you will climb until you reach the top.
