Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lola Mormino. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lola, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
Growing up, I have struggled with many health obstacles ranging from cancer, to hip surgery, to being paralyzed for three weeks, to a heart condition causing my bpm to go up to 230+, auto immune diseases, to almost losing my life, the list goes on. Because of seeing nearly the end of my life, I felt that there was nothing I couldn’t work through, and everything is always achievable no matter what.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I own a private gym that I opened in April of 2021 in Westlake Village to help people achieve their goals and feel less alone throughout their journey. What’s most exciting to me is that I get to relate to so many different people (no matter what age, race, goals, etc) due to what I’ve been through. I love helping people realize they can overcome anything to get to their goals, so that’s why I became a trainer and opened my gym.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities I couldn’t have lived without were being resilient to whatever came my way, trusting the process, and having full confidence that everything will work out the way it’s supposed to as long as I’m patient. For people who are just getting started on their journey, I would say to understand that everyone’s path is different. We cant compare our path to someone else’s because everybody is going through their own life just like you. You are exactly where you’re supposed to be, so be proud of that!
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents (and sister) have done for me. Is never leaving my side throughout all of my health issues. They were in the hospital with me every single day no matter what they had going on. I truly feel that without them, their support and love, I wouldn’t have been able to overcome all that was handed to me.
