Meet Angie Katherine Ramirez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angie Katherine Ramirez . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Angie Katherine , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
And if we talk about optimism, we have to talk about self-care and self-love because everything has been agreed upon in recent years.

Since I left my country, optimism and perseverance in fulfilling my dreams have become one of my highest priorities.
From a very young age I was taught that you always have to look for a solution without getting overwhelmed by your problems, from a very young age I have seen problems as learning, I always try to find the solution and I think that desire to improve myself every day and the anxiety of seeing what I can achieve to do is what motivates me the most.

I also love setting myself a challenge every day, I think this is all due to the way I was raised in a loving home where the word surrender was not in my vocabulary. I have been an independent person since I was very little who was always instilled with the desire to get ahead and that despite the fact that we had the means to do it, they never let me see it so easy.

That is why today I thank you and all the experiences that I have lived that have never let my optimism disappear.

Being an immigrant in a country with so many opportunities has given me another experience and a lot of challenges that have shown me how strong I am at only 25 years of age.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My story has an atnets and after living here in the USA I am not saying that I am a totally different person but my life has changed 360 degrees since I have lived here.

I am a Colombian living one of the most enriching experiences that has changed her life for the better. I think that if I thought back 5 years about everything I have achieved up to now, I would not believe it.

I have a degree in social communication and I am doing a master’s degree in business communication at a university in Spain online. In addition to that, I am starting my process to continue with my studies in the USA.

I come from a big city where the noise of the sirens from the whistles of the cars was my daily awakening and living in a field has been a very extreme change. In addition, being far from my family has been the most difficult thing to face. to the United States 3 years ago as an au pair and it is a love and hate towards my experience but an American family has left me that every day I am grateful to have them in my life. In addition to a lot of people from different cultures and a new way of live my life.

Talking about my brand makes me wonder because since I was in Colombia I decided to bet on creating my own personal brand where I help new people who want to live an experience outside the country they lived it, in my social networks I tell my experience as a migrant in a country full of opportunities. Creating content so that people are not afraid of leaving their comfort zone.

At this moment I am working to create my own podcast where I will tell more about my own experience and some tips that I would have liked to hear before immigrating, this podcast is aimed at those people who are afraid of living new experiences and who do not know how start to get out of their comfort zone in addition to those immigrants who live far from our countries and who fight every day for a better future.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
What has impacted me the most in this journey of emigrating to another country with a lot of culture and a language that is not mine, was knowing my side of perseverance and how quickly I adopted the new and seeing that I was not afraid of the new experiences. Seeing myself in those challenges and seeing the strength and perseverance in which I wake up day by day to continue learning and living from this experience surprises me because years ago I did not know that I could raise my head and learn so many things or do so many things that I have done.

It amazes me every day to see how I can solve my problems, how I can overcome so many things that I have experienced, I will not deny it, it has not been easy but I have never given up, that maturity in which I face has surprised me.

And I can tell other people that they do not stop dreaming that no matter how small their dream may be, do not give up, have a plan and do not lose focus, it is important to write down what you want because once you have your goals focused it is more easy to start working for them.
Although the new is not easy, it is not easy either, that it is okay to ask, that it is okay to ask for help, but it is also okay to do things by yourself.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed my first oasis is to try to calm down and take deep breaths. A few months ago I started doing breathing exercises that have helped me with anxiety. The next step is to do something I like or listen to my favorite song and at the end think about the good and bad points of the conflict. Give me some time and think about the solution, it may not be the most viable but options will always appear.

Learning to ask for help has been the key for me in these last few months.
