We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jayla Eskridge . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jayla below.
Hi Jayla , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I got my work ethic from my parents. Growing up I saw my parents do it all while raising kids. From my dad opening up his own barber shop and him being a business owner and being able to take care of his family. To my mom working in healthcare and coming home to cook dinner and do the whole nine. They made sure we never went without and made sure we had everything they didn’t have growing up.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Eskridge Properties is short term & corporate property. One thing about me is I love to look at houses and I have a passion for interior designing. So I thought to my self why not own property and be able to stage the properties that I own. One of my big goals with my business is to eventually buy land and continue to buy houses to invest in. I solely feel as everyone should own a piece of land. I plan to build generational wealth and break those generational curses. I’m very blessed to be able to say I got my first rental property down in Houston, Texas and can’t wait to see where I go from here. Through my months of hard work, dedication and me not giving up on the vision God gave me. I want to be able to know my family is well taken care of and my business being able to me passed down through generations. I truly believe that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to and remember we all have a purpose in life.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I knew I needed to have discipline and structure in my life. In order to accomplish something you have to know you want to accomplish it and not just half way want to achieve it. Always remember we have to start somewhere and that vision that’s just keeps popping up on your mind, go for it. Don’t give up on yourself and even when someone doubts that vision you have planned don’t let that discourage you. You have to know to show up for yourself the same way you always show up for others. Days when you just feel as if something is not for you, remember why you started. Always want to grow in life and not stay stagnant but remember love to live to the fullest.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I tend to get overwhelmed about something, I just try to take a step back from what ever has me worked up. I pray about it and write in my journal. Just realize that everything is not going to be peaches & cream but continue pushing through the tough times.
