Meet Chance Smith

We recently connected with Chance Smith and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Chance with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My wife and I both got our work ethic from our dads. Stephanie’s dad worked like mad to rise through the ranks of the retail industry and took every opportunity to advance himself in his career and his personal life. he ended up the store director of the number one Lowes store in the country. Similarly, I watched my dad work, seemingly nonstop to build a life in West Texas in the oil fields. Eventually, he too made an incredible career and was a job foreman for a hugely successful oil and gas company.

Ultimately, there are a million influences on our work ethic and the successes that brings. It’s the drive and stick-to-itness that we learned from them that we carry on as a legacy and motivator in our lives.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Peace.Love.Grub is focused on bringing folks in Nashville to the table! We are obsessed with uniting families and friends at the dinner table. We provide weekly meal deliveries, private dinner parties, and full-service boutique catering. In each of our endeavors, the end result is the same- empowering our hosts to live life to the fullest and reclaim the dinner table!

What’s really special to us are the little things. The busy families who abandon fast food and health issues to eat together at the table. The stressed-out mother of the bride who gets to enjoy an amazing dinner without stressing or having to manage every aspect of the food service at the wedding. The travelers who are visiting Nashville for the first time and get to kick off their trip with a customized, relaxing meal that will blow them away. There are a hundred little moments we get excited about; those little moments, to us, are the hallmark of what we do. Let us bring you back to the table and put joy on your plates.

We are launching some fun stuff this year. A blog highlighting some outrageous cooking stories, a new streamlined ordering application for weekly meal prep, and in the near future- an app to connect our chefs with guests near and far!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
In our case, there are three core skills that continue to prove themselves as invaluable. Compassionate Communication, Creative Cooking, and Fun!

The soft skills we’ve developed are invaluable, probably the most important of all. The ability to communicate with care and to adapt to every situation is not taken for granted on our part. Obviously, we cook for the largest part of the week so being creative in flavors and techniques is a must. Lastly, we have fun! What’s the point in doing anything if you can’t enjoy it? We try to make even the most tedious tasks a fun time full of laughter. I think it makes the other skills doable as well!

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
We love all of our clients! That said, we love our weekly meal prep clients immensely; we have such a bond and see them every week, so we get to know each other and build relationships that are hard to do with out-of-towners. The ideal clients, in that category, are busy families who want to serve a great meal to their kiddos at the end of the day. The families who rush from work and school to the soccer game, football practice, dance class, etc. and find themselves forgetting to sit and enjoy a meal together. That’s the core group that we serve best! Our meals are made to pop in the oven and serve without any complicated or time-consuming steps.
