Meet William Gregory

We were lucky to catch up with William Gregory recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have William with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I feel my work ethic stems from seeing people from my hometown (Detroit) growing and working in a tough economic environment, especially in todays time. You could be down to your last but a Detroiter will make something happen regardless at the end of the day! .

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Currently I am the Media Manager for the infamous Detroit Youth Choir. Seen on America’s Got Talent, 2x Stellar Award-Winners along with an upcoming Disney+ docu-series being released later this year and more. I am a service member for AmeriCorps at Wayne State University’s Urban Studies Department for Climate R.E.A.D.Y., where we help litigate the impact that climate change (flooding specifically) has had on the Jefferson-Chalmers area of Detroit. Lastly, I am a contributing writer for Black Link Magazine, which will soon have publications in Barnes and Noble, Paris, France and more. I hope to soon have my own media company but am still learning as much as I can before doing so in the 6 years I’ve been a media manager, marketing-advertising specialist, writer, editor and publisher.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say that networking, patience and perseverance are three essential qualities needed looking back at the process of my career and life. Using those tools will ensure you know what’s needed to be done, you know the right people who can help you achieve your goal and that you can return the favor to along with the patience of keeping your eye on the true goal without being discouraged or moving too fast. Advice I have…never let anyone deter you from your journey and goals.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always looking for organizations and people themselves to collaborate with. Having 12.2K followers with a lot of those followers being Grammy winners, Emmy winners, business owners, players in professional sports leagues, big screen actors, artists, labels, musicians and so much more. Whether it’s being a brand ambassador or just seeing where we can help each other, I’m open to all collaborations!
